CM Punk with his shopworn 39-year-old physique and stubby limbs makes Demian Maia look like Kevin Randleman. A guy like Tim Sylvia was a physical freak. Even the fattest heavyweights or lumps like Sean Salmon at least had power in their muscles.

I used to think Demian Maia had physical disadvantages but he's so much more coordinated than Punk and his frame is larger for his weight class.

So this is your challenge, Sherdog. Name a less athletic guy than Punk in UFC history.

It didn't though, he was completely gassed and did nothing for the entire last round and most of the second.

Nah I don't think so, he's not the best by any means, but he's old and beat up already entering a different environment, this was never going to go well.

The man was a pro wrestler, he's got some pretty good athletics to go off of in general. He's no way the least athletically gifted, maybe the least experienced to ever get paid so much and wind up on a main PPV card.

Cody MacKenzie certainly is a good selection for that title, or even Tim Sylvia for that matter...he was huge for HW but terribly awkward.
