So guys, how are you doing pullups? Chin over the bar or chest to bar? I can't reach with my chest to bar when i do pullups, but i can if i'm doing chinups. When i do pullups i feel like chin over the bar is the end way, i can't imagine how can you pull yourself higher? And everywhere i read about pullups it says that the correct way doing them is chest to bar.

It depends on how you are built, for very tall people going chin over bar might not be possible.
The important part is staying consistant.

Actually chin over the bar is easy for me on pullups. What's hard for me to do is to go chest to bar. I watched some more videos and as it seems in order to go chest to bar you have to pull your elbows in more. It's easier to do that on chinups hehe.

Touching the clavicle, to full extension, is what I consider a rep. When I'm near the end of a set, though, I'll still count ones that are close.

Try Leaning back/sternum chinups where you start to lean back as you pull yourself up and touch your sternum to the bar.

as far as regular pullups/chinups, My chin is above bar at top

I usually do chin over the bar. Me doing chest-to-bar is unnecessary.

Same here. I find it a strain to go chest-to-bar when doing pull-ups so I go as high as I can comfortable, with at least my chin over the bar.

Who cares.
Why would anyone worry about such minutia.

No one really would care. If a lifter wants to do half-reps to inflate their numbers and give their ego a boost, more power to them. And yet people get all up in arms about squat depth...

Gotta makesure you don't get no-repped while doing Fran brah!

I only focus on chin above the bar. I would find trying to touch my chest/clavicle to be pretty awkward.

Pull ups and chin ups are two different exercises. You would "pull" yourself up over a ledge, you wouldn't "chin" yourself over a ledge if that helps you remember the difference in the grips.

A pull up or a chin up is dead strict: Arms fully extended to chest to bar. Anything else is pussy. Yeah, you all heard me, pussies.

You can do 20 "pull ups". You can't do 20 pull ups.

Doesn't it have more to do with the ease of RoM?

I can easily touch my chest with a chin-up. I can't do the same with a pull-up.

i do chin over the bar

i started a few months ago, being able to do exactly zero pull-ups.

instead of bands, i put my bench just under me (slightly further away) so that my toes could rest on it and i started doing 5 sets of 10 reps of all assisted pullups.

once i could feel i was stronger, i started trying to do them strict and in the beginning i could only do a 1 or 2 of the first set, with the balance all assisted.

fast forward about 4 months and this morning i made 10 full reps for the first set and a total of 25 full pull-ups, with the balance 25 assisted.

i did 10/5/4/3/3 on my sets respectively.

not bad considering i couldn't do a single one before this.

I always do at least clavicle to bar, and sternum to bar if I'm leaning back and getting my torsoe more horizontal. Most importantly, I am pulling my elbows/humeri fully in line with my torsoe and fully retracting my scapulae.

So guys, how are you doing pullups
Regular pull ups are pretty pointless

Do weighted pull ups for strength, muscle-ups for explosiveness. When you can do 10-20 muscleups on a bar you will have no use for normal pullups.

I havent done a regular pullup in years, they are great for beginners though. Then move to clapping pullups, and then muscleups.

maybe if you can do 30+ full ROM with little effort. i can't so i disagree haha.

if you can even just do 15 or 20 it's time to start adding weight, or start clapping.
