Can’t say I have. The only noise I ever hear is a disc being read, not even the fan.

Probably not something to be overly concerned about but fwiw, Sony released a new system update today and some people are reporting their PS5’s as running quieter.

Interesting. If I play anything later tonight I’ll have to see if there’s any change.

Sony is selling the PS5 at a loss, investors told
‘Strategic price point’ on new console is lower than manufacturing costs
Sony shipped more than 4.5 million PlayStation 5s from the console’s Nov. 12 launch to the end of the year, but it took a loss on those sales because the PS5’s “strategic price point” is lower than what it cost to manufacture it.

The disclosure was part of Sony’s quarterly report to investors, delivered in Japan earlier today. The losses on PS5 sales were not specifically broken out — and they were part of an overall Game & Network Services Segment that saw a 26.7 billion yen ($2.5 billion) increase in operating income over the same quarter in 2019.

Sony’s PlayStation revenue from game sales (both PS4 and PS5, add-on content included) plus larger profit margins on the outgoing PlayStation 4 more than made up any shortfall, the company said.
This is why consoles are the best deal in gaming for the first year or so after they launch, and then again several years later when they've dropped in price more than a hundred off retail at place like Amazon. We can safely presume both Xboxes are being sold at a loss, too, if this is the case. A $2.5bn increase in gaming profit for a single quarter shows that the good times are rolling in Japan.

Sony have bought a 1.9% ownership stake in Kadokawa Corp who are From Software's parent company.

In its latest financial results, Kadokawa said the capital alliance would allow it to utilise Sony’s “global expansion power of animation and consumer games.”

The deal would facilitate the “creation, development, and acquisition” of new IP, in addition to allowing it to “maximize the value of the abundant IP that we already own,” it added.

They need to start selling these in the store now. I'm sure 90% of people buying right now are fucking scalpers with bots.

There was no navigating through that... I'm convinced they're aiding scalpers to keep the demand up to the holiday.

They aren't aiding scalpers they just don't care and aren't implementing anything to stop them like Best Buy did.

Sony store has the best method that I’ve seen. You get placed into a queue which opens up to allow random people in.

Most retailers just aren’t giving a shit so long as they get bought.

I STILL have yet to even have a slight chance of getting one. Why don't they just release them all into the stores and stop with this online bs ffs!

I think I'm going to stop bothering with Walmart drops. It sells out faster than I can hit add to cart.

It went from for sale at 3:00 to for sale at 3:10 when I refreshed as soon as my phones clock went from 2:59:59 to 3

I had 2 devices trying and I was on another displaying the accurate time and date. Refresh hit add to cart, error out of stock...

Bots are getting these before my page even reloads.
