PS5 announced for 2020 Holiday Season

If that's the case, some developers are missing out on an opportunity.

I highly doubt a patch and a PS3 disc of The Last of Us would have upgraded it to 60 FPS 1080p.

Well Last of Us is already 1080p on PS4. I think anything on PS4 should be 1080p at this point. 60FPS should be able to get done with just a patch.

If the past two console generations have proved anything, its the launch games have been lackluster.

They are either games designed for the previous generation but with upgraded graphics (best examples), or the completely buggy messes the developer rushes just to be on the launch lineup for maximum sales numbers because consumers will just buy it for something to play on their new $400+ system.

But last console generation we saw a new, and perhaps the best option, remasters of the best games of the previous generation with graphics upgrades and all the DLC included.

Perhaps we should be discussing which games are most likely to be ported over to the PS5/XBox'Two.'

Besides the obvious choices of Cyberpunk2077, Death Stranding, God of War, and a few others, I've been saying for a while that most people played Witcher 3 on the consoles and sadly got the shortest end of the stick as far as how amazing that game can be. If CDPR are very business smart, and I really hope they are, they should have already have contracted out another developer to port it over to the PS5 and take full advantage of all of its hardware.

Hell I love playing Witcher 3 on a PC, but I'd love to play it on a big screen with a controller.
there is literally zero chance cyberpunk 2077 doesn't have a PS5 version being made.

Agreed. The question is if its going to be a launch title or if they're waiting for all the expansions to be completed.

Hell, perhaps both.

I’m already resigned to the fact that I’ll be buying TLOU2 twice.

Was well worth picking up the remaster of the original for the PS4.

Rumor is they will launch PS5 with a regular and pro version from the start so maybe we will have like 3 versions of every popular game for a few years. I think this next generation is going to be a bit of a shitshow as streaming is coming along and I think computer prices are going to drop pretty significantly. I'm going to give ps5 a year like I did ps4. It's about the time it takes for them to create games that aren't on the older system anyway.

I think we all have. As long as it comes with all the DLC I'm fine with it.

I still need to pick up a PS4 Pro and catch up on the best games of an entire console generation. I have a hell of a list, with around 20 games on it.

Then, in probably two more years, I'll get a custom-built gaming PC.

And two years after that, the mid-generation PS5 'Pro' or whatever they're calling it.

When I heard the TLoU2 remaster played at 60FPS on the PS4, but TLoU2 is only playing at 30FPS, I was like...

<DontBelieve1>

Yeah, I know, improved graphics, but with Naughty Dog's experience on their Uncharted games on the PS4, ya'd think they'd know how to get 60FPS if they REALLY wanted to.

But, then why buy the PS5 version?

<TheDonald>

As long as TLoU2 is everything its hyped up to be, I'm cool with it.

It's always like this with consoles. Consoles get more powerful and people think "Oh we can have 60FPS now". Then devs raise the graphics as much as they can so that at best they can get 30 FPS. At the end of the day a high quality video game that looks really good is going to sell more games than a video of a game being played at 60 FPS.

I used to not care about FPS at all until I finally realized the difference. When going from PC to my PS4 it can be rough sometimes depending on how long I've been away from my console.

Whenever I buy a PS5 'Pro,' I'm going to have a strict 60 FPS policy for every game I buy.

Getting sick of developers excuses for their bullshit on this. There was games running on PS1 and N64 at 60FPS. Pure fucking laziness, or at the very least they should give users a choice.

I noticed the PS4 pro was giving people choices in some games. Hopefully that becomes more common.

Oh by the way, if you appreciate 60FPS on consoles, do not check out high-framerate PC games with 144hz monitors and on high settings.

You'll be pissed consoles games will never be that beautiful.

First real picture. It looks like a cheap knockoff 1000 in 1 type system.

How much of a real upgrade is it? I mean, what is next?

I grew up with Nintendo and when we got the super Nintendo, there was no question how advanced it was, truly.

But when i look at ps3 and ps4 games, im not nearly as blown away. Ps4 is mighty good and now we have...what?

Lol the whole appeal of the next gen is the BC, there are going to be PS4 games where a PS5 patch will be implemented but I think they'll make bank on GOTY edition with enhancements instead of remasters. I also think TLOU 2 MP is going to be the sweetener to buy TLOU 2 again.

Diminishing returns on graphics improvements

Yes, because it’s a dev kit.

Won’t surprise me if it has some similarities but I don’t think that’s a finished product. If so then yeesh.

Games with good art styles make the technological differences not feel bad. Differences between games released on both PC and console can be an issue, but not with every one. I'd rather have say Metro or a competitive fps on PC, but some games I'd be perfectly fine with the Switch version of when a PS4 or XB1 version is graphically superior to it (and the PC version to them).
