In almost all cases I don't like it when athletes make political statements while they are on the field. I want to watch them compete, not hear about their politics.

But I respect this guy. He is saying it messed up that he is not allowed to compete against fellow athletes.

He is an Iranian athlete and carried a US flag during part of a marathon to show sympathy towards Americans who were not allowed to run in the marathon.

- At least that is what I read. The story might change with more information.

Whoa. That takes a lot of balls.

RIP that guy :(

Amazing. Obama bends over for these people, frees up tens of billions so they can pursue nuclear weapons, has John Kerry thank them profusely for not torturing captured sailors while they test missiles, yet they still give us a big fuck you by not allowing Americans to run in a stupid race?

Man, they have made Obama their bitch so hard.

You agree with his political statement or sentiment so you make an exception in this case.

I am neutral when it comes to atheles making political statements. I may or may not agree with their statement but have nothing against them making it.

In this case he is speaking against a policy that directly impacts the event and competition in the event

I see that differently

There were 23 Americans competing at this marathon. So if someone was barred, it wasnt for being an American. However, the event did not allow women so maybe its in solidarity with uppity American feminists.

And lol@this taking courage. Iran, for all its faults, isnt what it was in the 80s. Theres rampant worship of western materialism and people openly endorsing America.

the same people praising this clickbait as a heroic display of an athlete using his influence to spread a message would be trashing a celebrity calling for compassion to refugees.

And trannies everywhere. More trannies than the morally corrupt West.

I read somewhere that Iranian homophobia doesnt extend to she-males because they accept them as their chosen gender. Can any Iranian transgenders in this forum confirm?
