I dont think they are overtly homophobic and racist in the initial selling of their political ideologies. They always deny those things, or hide them behind the idea of economic heirarchies as opposed to social ones...or suggesting that they dont mind minorities so long as the minorities "behave properly"...then when they capture power the true motives come out.

If anything I always loudly hear them screaming about tax cuts and courting the wealthy.

Except that Republicans have been doing this since before most of us were born. Trump ran on putting Clinton in prison even after she was cleared by law enforcement of any criminal wrongdoing and he tried to pressure his DOJ to go after her more. He also got a bogus investigation into his own investigation, and tried to extort another country to announce an investigation into Biden.

Do you believe that children should have the right to sue their parents for being “forced” to attend church?

As incredible as they might sound, these are just a few of the new “children’s rights laws” that could become a reality under a new United Nations program if fully implemented by the Carter administration.

Its just louder and more blatant now, and being furthered by people getting into power who believe it, but are less educated than the people who dreamt it up. The Boeberts and MTG's of the World, ineffective politicians whose sole job is to obstruct, do damage, and stir the base with inflammatory rhetoric. No one is making the contention that any of this just popped up recently, or began with Trump, or even will end with Trump. Bannon kind of let that cat out of the bag when he yelled at some podcasters that Trump is just a figurehead and that the endgame has nothing to do with him
