The only remedy at this late stage in this 50+ yearlong campaign to remake America is a massive revolt this fall at the ballot box, turning Congress over to Democrats while holding the White House​

Kevin Roberts, who heads the Heritage Foundation (largely responsible for Project 2025) just implicitly threatened Americans that if we don’t allow him and his hard-right movement to complete their transformation of America from a democratic republic into an authoritarian state, there will be blood in the streets.

“We’re in the process of taking this country back,” he told a TV audience, adding:
“The reason that they are apoplectic right now, the reason that so many anchors on MSNBC, for example, are losing their minds daily is because our side is winning. And so I come full circle on this response and just want to encourage you with some substance that we are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.”

He’s not wrong. America has been changed as a result of a series of corrupt rulings by Republicans (exclusively; not one of these rulings has been joined by a Democratic appointee) which have changed America’s legal and political systems themselves.

As Roberts notes, this is really the largest issue we all face, and our mainstream media are totally failing to either recognize or clearly articulate how radically different our country is now, how far the Republicans on the Court have dragged us away from both our Founder’s vision and the norms and standards of a functioning, modern democratic republic.

Without even looking just at the South, we've long had a reactionary element in politics. For example:

I wouldn't blame the end of the Fairness Doctrine on Fox, but Fox is probably part of the story of how that element came to take control of a major political party. I don't even think Murdoch wanted it (he's really just interested in tax cuts for rich people and cutting the safety net to pay for it). But his agenda is unpopular, while creating a kind of RPG/reality show of politics is box office.

The actually interesting part of the story here is the agenda. Trump has been pretty reluctant to talk about actual policies, largely because he doesn't really care about policy aside from stuff that personally enriches him. Even when he floats stuff, his supporters tend to think it's so dumb that it's not something he'd really do, especially since he lies all the time. So this actually gives us a look at what rightists who will be making policy if there's a second Trump administration are looking at. It's actually the most important story of the election (as the stuff like "Biden is a bad dancer or stuttered once" that tends to dominate the news is interesting to partisans but totally irrelevant).

It's likely to happen down-ballot. And I will feel tons better if Republicans have no Congressional control and an impotent wannabe dictator as President. That MIGHT be tolerable, but if Republicans capture either chamber of Congress + Presidency, it's a wrap at least for 4 years.

However, I will say that I dont think ALL opposition is going to sit still and take this. Something happened during January 6th that never gets discussed that shows that there are some very important people who are willing to turn tides. I dont want to just put it out there, but let's just say even if J-6 was successful it might have been an extremely short coup.

It goes past replacing people that normally are switched out with a change in administration. They want to get rid of thousands of people who have held these jobs for multiple administrations, making it their careers, with people loyal to the plan.
