PRO fighters fat free mass index(FFMI)

Height only allows to get a rough idea how much mass someone can put on if one assumes that every person has the same bone thickness and joint width.

This is not the case though.
If you were to make an x-ray of Daniel Cormier and Max Holloway, you'd see that both have vastly different frames.

Being big boned plays a huge factor in how much mass someone can put on his frame.
@AlanGregson
Yes, i agree, dc is also a very fat guy, im sure he carries a lot of muscle under all of that fat, his bf% is way too high to get an accurate ffmi number

Yup, DC truly carries a lot of body fat.

Just meant to say that the FFMI can be/is flawed at times.

Dean Lister for example, has insanely big bones - all other things being equal, he's able to put on a lot more mass than most other people his height.

i heard that excuse before

In this case, looks tell you most of what you need to know - but really, the difference in bone size is one of the main factors when it comes to which weightclass a fighter performs in.
There's guys who have the exact same height and reach, yet they are three divisions apart or so, and this often is not just due to a difference in muscle mass and fat!

Oh yeah, but dean lister is just built different, his wrists and forearms just look way thicker than any of the guys that i posted above, thats what i meant by neanderthal stocky build, he isnt built for striking, he's made for squezzing and lifting, perfect body for bjj or greco roman

No amount of drugs would make yoel or ngannou cardio machines, its like asking nate diaz to become a one shoot killer, their body type is explosive fast twitch,
I was always explosive fast twitch, always will be, no matter how much cardio i do i will never have amazing endurance, same for mcgregor, if they cant get you out in the first two rounds, your chances of winning the fight went up a lot
That pic just proves my point. He looked very impressively built for an African kid.

Drugs will improve your cardio. There is a whole line of specific drugs that make your blood carry more oxygen FFS. Runners swimmers cyclists use them.

Sprinters are fast twitch, long distance runners are slow twitch, you can only improve cardio with drugs to a point, and its all about body types, if tyrone woodley didnt lift a weight in his life, he'd still be more jacked than the wast majority of guys walking around, ngannou has amazing genetic response to drugs, he was a skinny african kid that worked in a mine his whole life, the africsn part has nothing to do with it, not everyone in africa is starving, if he worke a physical job like that, he ate fine

Bodies fill out from when you're 16 and when you're an adult. Young Francis there was already showing impressive physical constitution. He might have ate, but he was still in Africa. The nutrition and appetising food is much greater in 1st world countries(just look at all the obese people). These factors easily explain his body maturity difference between pictures, plus that the picture below is taken from a low angle.

He was in his 20's in that pic, he shows average athlete development, you dont need to eat like an obese person to gain muscle. The pic angle is fine, he's jacked no matter which angle you look at him from

I have read about the methodology/development of FFMI but I am a bit suspect of it, especially this "eye test", because it doesn't seem to take into account water/sodium retention.

EDIT: in addition, I don't think it takes bone density into account. Bone density on a competitive martial artist is going to be substantially higher than that of even a bodybuilder, let alone an average joe baseline
This is illogical

I gonna get out because i am not gay. But different body types ect.. being below 10% in bodyfat, is not the best idea. You will actually lose speed, explosive power, and other things.

Somewhere between 10-15 is ideal for performance. Because athletes dont train for looks.

Training for looks are for females imo.
