He only had 10sec at the top of La Redoute. I would let him hang 15secs off the front (for several kilometers) to unnerve him after La Redoute.

Easier said than done - LOL

The problem is that everyone was fucked by the top of La Redoute to maintain a 15-20sec gap on the descent and to the foot of Cote de roche aux Faucons. You go 98% to hold it to 15secs at the top of la Redoute and Pogacar went only 90%. Now you spend the next 5mins trying to recover while he pulls it out to 30+ secs. It's a tough problem to solve.
 
Watched Redoute again. Remco is down about 7 seconds at the start, its game over, no way to make it up from there to be competive.

EF does really good job with someone and then Powless dumping Healy in the perfect position.
Alaphilippe and Pidcock in perfect position too with Nys just behind them, Ciccone a few wheels behind that.

Fastest Redoute ever. Pog more than a minute faster from foot of Redoute to top of Roche aux Faucons than Remco in 2023.
 
Pretty crappy startlist at the Tour de Romandie starting today. Remco, Almeida and Rodriquez and that is about it.
Maybe some second tier climby boi can have their day.

That's so cool. I'm hoping to get away on my bike (probably Italy) for a week or so. Dony know if I'll bump into any cycling superstars, I'm kind hoping some hot Italian milfs tbh.

Yeah there is a long article about it.
The guys said that he was really nice and he also asked them questions about them self and their training / competing. One of them race for a smaller club.
Gave them advice on training.
They also said that he was going slow but they had a hard time keeping up with him.

As you said really cool.
I like him and Poga, they both seem like really nice people.

I find that cyclists are pretty cool and would let you join. If you can keep up. I saw a random following Bernal, 25kmh up an 8℅ gradient climb. Damn.

I think the response varies wildly depending on who the regular is and when you catch the pro. If you're doing a specific workout and a wanker decides to glue on your wheel when you're in rest period, it could be annoying as fuck - especially if you're doing repeats and they keep coming back to you after repeats.

Maybe pro riders are different personalities now but I can't imagine a lot of riders in my era enjoying a weekend warrior jumping into their group or following their wheels when they are easy spinning. I could go through a 100 examples where you could just be an annoyance to a pro trying to do his job.

I'll throw out one other thing. Think about how many shitty riders are in your group ride or club race, or regional races. Think about how many of them just don't have a clue of how to ride with others, and you know they'll never get it. Now imagine you're a pro at work and this fucking wanker wants to just ride on your wheel, or talk to you when you don't want to talk. I'd recommend just nodding, wishing them wheel, leaving a gap, and let them do their job. Just my 2cents.

Not saying you should jump in. That's rude. And I won't be surprised if they get cussed out. The vids I watched are of people asking permission first and the team were cool with it. I guess people who were told to fuck off don't post their vids.
 
ha I remember years ago when Vande Velde was training on Mt. Diablo, about a mile from my house and my perennial hangout. He must have been prepping for the Tour of California, when that was still around.

He flew by me so fast, I didn't even have time to recognize him. He stopped briefly at the 'saddle' (ranger station) before continuing his series of intervals. Actually, very affable fellow (tiny too), but there was no one there that day who could have
followed him, pestering or otherwise.

Although there are some serious cyclists in the area, including a visiting TRD who went to the summit in the Big Ring. da fuq?
