That is the best chance that Pogacar is ever going to have.
I'd say that today demonstrated that it can work, and he can win. Pog only had Wellens and Narvaez for Cipressa. Narvaez was in bad position to start Cipressa and they had to make a lot of ground with Pogi and in the end he only did a 800m pull. Pog attack at 3km to the top of Cipressa. That is a lot of work for him to do alone.
Of course having few riders pull the capos and have 3 or 4 left and more importantly in position to blast it on Cipressa is very difficult. Probably needs a good tail wind like today too.
Then again it is MSR and Sagan never won it.
I think the cyclists around right now that he has to compete with just have a better kick than he does. It’s not hard enough to eliminate big engines like a MVDP, WVA, Michael Matthew’s, Phillipsen style racer and he just can’t out sprint guys like that. He's gonna win Paris - Roubaix before he wins MSR. It's a brutally hard race to win in modern cycling. It has a lottery element that no other monument has.
Pog is a Wanderlei dishing it out against the Crocops in monuments. In grand tours these Crocops become Akira Shojis.I think the cyclists around right now that he has to compete with just have a better kick than he does. Tbf to Pog,he tried his damnest not to!You can’t take that guy to the line.
