I wouldn't discount the cyclocross he does in the off season.

Cyclocross is by far the the most pain I've ever been in. Old school national championships TTTs of 70 (junior) or 100km (senior) are relentlessly brutal when you ride with 3 other super strong riders but cyclocross is an instant lung burner and it doesn't stop. It's like a version of an indoor workout where you start with a 30 second interval, then do a 1minute interval, then alternate 4min and 1min intervals, for an hour.
Lemme guess, 25c tires?

Thrilling TT finale up Malhao to finish up Tour of Algarve. Can Joao win the GC when he has 16s on Vingegaard and 19s on Roglic? I dont think so but I sure hope so!

I think CX helps with bike handling for sure and in chaotic sprints considering all CX starts are pretty much sprint chaos but I dont think that it is some magic bullet, just like XC was not the magic bullet for Sagan. Extremely talented people just did that.

Pog's week long heat training is over.

Yates did Jebel Hafeet faster last year, Pog washed up confirmed.

Few more days until Omloop.

UAE sending a very strong squad including Morgado, Wellens, Narvaez, Vermeersch.
LidlTrek with a strong squad too: Skujins, Stuyven, Vacek but for some reason they are not sending Pedersen.
Visma with a quality squad too: Wout, Jorgensson, Affini, Campenaerts, Benoot.

Others to watch out: Philipsen, De Lie, Pidcock, Lazkano, Girmay, Groves

5 stage O Gran Camino starting today, such a shame that the startlist is really weak. Really liked the lumpy stages of past editions.

Man pog just riding away on stage 7….

Looks even worse than last year.

Naah it is not worrying. Calculated watts were slightly below what Remco and Yates did last year though the stage as a whole was likely much harder due to crosswinds and echelons. Riders like Eetwelt and Gall completely missed the chanche as they got caught in the splits before the climb.

Other than Pidcock there ain't a rider at Streade Bianchi that could hold Pogacar's jock strap.

And in honor of Pogacar I will drink some Fructal od maline.

what a fucking miserable couple of days it has been for De Lie, constant mechanicals and whatnot

after chasing back on today and positioning himself reasonably well for the sprint, it looks like the rider in front of him accidentally unclipped, slowed down, and De Lie was boxed in. never even got the chance to sprint.
