Vingegaard looking like shit compared to what was expected

Even Pogacar was too exhausted after the Tour to ride the Vuelta. If the guy who kicked Jonas' ass in France was tired, how must Jonas be feeling?

Not throwing shade at Almeida. He is riding great. But Jonas is - understandably - not in peak form. No way that TdF Jonas is fighting to the line with Jai Hindley.

UAE tactics to be so aggressive in the breaks despite having a top contender is a little unorthodox but I would probably do the same. Almeida in 2nd in GC and 7 stage wins is a pretty nice haul for any team. I understand the counter argument that better to go all in for Almeida until Jonas (or somebody else) proves that they are a cut above.

Realistically, the different priorities have not hurt UAE to date. If Almeida loses by 20 seconds in the end, perhaps the strategy can be second guessed.

He did UAE tour + full classic season.

At this point I am convinced that Pog does not give really care too mucht about Vuelta, or Grand Tours in general, sure, he might do Vuelta just one to complete his collection of Grand Tour wins. I think he would skip the Tour too if there was not immense pressure from the team to do it, probably only race he is more or less forced to do with him being able to pick his racing calendar apart from that.
At the Tour this year towards the end I got the impression that he did not really want to be there.

Pog is a born again classics guy. And he is obsessed with Milan - San Remo and now Paris - Roubaix too. It is the style of racing he loves. He does not have to suffer through endless interviews and sprint stages.

I suspect that Pogacar both loves and hates the Tour. No doubt that this year we saw - for the first time - Pogacar openly tired of the circus in the 3rd week.

Agree re the Vuelta. I am sure that he will do it at some point both to get the tick on his record and probably for some major financial inducement from the sponsors.

He definitely loves having the WC jersey. Makes sense for him to focus on repeating given that the course suits him again.

I am already looking forward to his 2026 assault on both MSR and PR. Some people complain that Pogi makes some races boring but I think he makes the spring classics much much more interesting. (maybe not LBL)

200 IQ REMCO ATTACK!!
I'm just here for another heart breaking disappointment.

Well, I guess the "it has been a long stage and you never know how everybody's legs will feel for the final sprint" did not apply today

UCI is considering not awarding a second place on today's stage. Will go straight from first to 3rd.

joking aside - great win by Pedersen. Well deserved after all his work this Vuelta. The team screwed up a couple of stages in the first week and it has been a long time since they had another stage that suited them. That is Grand Tour life. Chances go fast.

Maybe that divider was not all that big lol

Still, it was a nice attack from Remco. From the back with massive speed difference and a divider to somewhat block. Too bad that there were some corners on that descent about 1km from the attack. Race IQ = improved?? Bike handling = yeaaahh maybe needs some work

Missed more protesting at the Vuelta. Some dude jumped from the woods and fumbled, could have been much worse!

Romo look pissed off as they cut when he started running towards the protester

They're trying to decide where the finish would be because of the protesters???

I have to say that Vingegaard switching to Tulett's bike was a bit more refined compared to 2022
