Ok this seems a little excessive to me. Some inmates get together in prison, and make a few rap videos in order to represent, and they get 1,000 days in the hole? According to the article, they were caught "beat-boxing".

So apparently this is a trend. But seems innocent to me. Where is the harm?

Are you against prisoners making rap videos?

Discuss.

i save my sympathy for the victims of their crimes, all those useless mothefuckers can go chug a glass of poison for all i give a fuck

1000 days is a bit excessive..

Was the punishment for rapping or for smuggling in video recording technology or something like that?

I wonder if the same rules apply to white inmates caught making a country music video. Sounds like racism to me.

Sorry, I just posted the link above.

They were charged for producing threatening material, as well as smuggling contraband. All of their privileges have been taken away.

Assuming their guilty of course. And assuming their crimes involved "victims"

No prob.

If you're not to have this kind of technology as a prisoner, and there are good reasons for that, then they asked for it. 1,000 days might be excessive...I don't really know what's appropriate in this context.

But these guys also knew they were creating and publicizing video evidence of them breaking the rules. They're either fucking retarded, or they really love rapping no matter what the cost.

Here's some more info on a previous inmate caught using face book:

And in October 2013, one prisoner, Tyheem Henry, was sentenced to more than 37 years in disciplinary detention - as well as numerous lost privileges - for 38 posts on the social network.

The state's harsh policy toward the use of social media is taking up space in prisons, Maass said.

On its
website in February, the EFF wrote: 'In the South Carolina prison system, accessing Facebook is an offense on par with murder, rape, rioting, escape and hostage-taking.'

So yeah, I think they are going overboard with the punishments. Accessing facebook is on par with murder and rape? lol

It's obviously not a crime on par with murder and rape. But in a maximum security prison where people are trying to escape or maybe put a hit out on some prison guard's family, stuff like Facebook can't be allowed.

Maybe some reformed guy has turned to Christ and really just wants to Tweet his top ten movies list to the world. But if you don't stop him from doing that, how are you going to stop Frankie Two Fingers from messaging his homeboys with the prison yard schedule and a photo of the guard he doesn't like?

lol since when do you make gun signs like you're shooting someone up in country music? since when is country music full of violent lyrics and lyrics about drug use / gang life etc.

the reason for the harsh sentence is because when that video reaches the outside, goes viral, how do you think that looks for the prison? what kind of pressures do you think get put on the warden?

these guy were having fun but they're idiots because they filmed themselves committing a crime and self-snitched. they're fucking dumb.

Carrie Underwood sang about smashing her boyfriend's car with a baseball bat. Straight criminal gangsta shit if you ask me.

I dont pay taxes so these inmates can record rap videos

should have given them 2,000 days

Might have something to do with promoting gang ties and shit like that

Prison is run like bootcamp. They shouldn't be surprised when they get the book thrown @ them for flouting the regulations

That much time in solitary will break someone's mind. What's fucked up is we have enough data on the subject to know that solitary confinement is basically torture

It has a profoundly negative effect on humans and animals. Our prison system us based on making profit and fucking people up instead if rehabilitation. It's completely at odds with everything we know about psychology.

lol I guess there's crazy racist, violent country music.. point taken. just never heard it before now.

still.. maybe 5% of country music is about drugs / racist shit and 80% of rap is about crime / violence etc.

do skinheads in prison really sing that racist country BS.. lol.

Not even a big fan of rap but that was legit.
