Prime Rumble vs Jiri: Who wins?

or make Johnson crumble, unable to keep up with a high pace.

When has rumble ever "Crumbled" against a striker? I feel like it's a false narrative that gets thrown around here.

He definitely has drowned when elite wrestlers put a grapple heavy clinic on him but I've never seen him drowning like that in any stand up fight.

DC drowned him but DC took some devastating shots in the process and used his wrestling to survive and turn the tables.

Jiri is good but not technical enough to keep Rumble off of him imo

He "crumbles" under pressure and a high pace imo. No striker was able to do so for the reasons stated in the post you replied.

Would Jiri be capable? I dont favour him, but maybe

Due to how Jiri’s kill or be killed style think he’s getting finished in the first. If he fought a more conservative game plan with lots of clinching he could get it done and wear rumble out. Don’t think that’s in Jiri’s DNA though

Jiri all the way plus jiri has durability and can go the distance and dealt with 3 fights in 1 night. More experience in Japan rules and Western rules as well. Started in cage in early career and transition to Japan rules in ring and able to fight in both. Rumble only fought under cage western rules Majority of his career.

It makes a difference in adapting to different rules skills and gamemanship.
Jiri has way diverse in dealing with different MMA skills.

Only handful can pull it off like gegard mousasi Werdum Alister.

Historically guys like Dan Henderson mark Coleman don fry were vale tudo fighters so there transitions to pride wasn't that difficult.

Proven fighters were Anderson Silva coming from important losses in pride to be successful in UFC.

In overall argument both fighting in UFC level and Japan level is hard and be elite respectively. The cons they might not be able to transition easily with their skills sets.

That's why bellator pfl strike force historically can transition and fight strong against other fighters organization. Even rizin ff but very slim can succeed in transition to fight western MMA.

Man, Rumble was a monster! What happened to him?? Lost just twice in the last 10 years. 10 finishes in his last 13 wins. Lost just 5 times in his career to RNCs, never lost a decision, never knocked out or TKO'd (Eye poke loss against Kevin Burns doesn't count).

Longer than that recently what you mean? His las fight ended in the 2nd round.

I think Rumble definitely has endurance issues but he is usually able to set his own pace by making his opponents taste his power early and keep them in the backpedall like vs Branch or Davis.

I dont think he would get Jiri backpedalling a lot. Jiri would put the pressure on and either get KOed in the process (the most likely outcome imo) or make Johnson crumble, unable to keep up with a high pace.

He still looked pretty fresh in that second round though dispite being rocked in the first in a fast paced fight.

I think cardio could become an issue because Jiri's is incredibly strong(Glover not the first fight he's won by it) but Rumble as a one round fighter I think is overstating it.

But he was striker with insane power, same as Rumble... - ask any of guys which ever sparred with Šolc how are they orbital doing..(not good)
I understand your point, but that Solc still needed to catch Jiri flush and he did not have the ability to do it. Rumble precision is very good in addition to have power. Give Solc the athletic abiility of Rumble and suddenly you can bet on him instead of Jiri.

I always wondered why Rumble doesn’t go to the body more with his boxing, imagine eating a shot to the ribs from him lol

If I could see Jiri fight anyone from yesteryear though it would be MWGP Shogun, potentially the ultimate in violence?

I love Jiri and hope he stays champ for a while, but Rumble takes his head clean off. Rumble just hits too damn hard and Jiri gets hit too damn much.
