Prime Koscheck runs through today's division

Koscheck struggled with Dustin Hazelett in the 1st and was finished by Paulo Thiago.

He's not running through anyone in the current top 10.

McLovin was a weird matchup. The random KO’s happen. Agree Koscheck never put together a consistent run, and wouldn’t do so now either, but I think he could beat a lot of ranked guys.

Hats off to Woodley for finding ways to make me dislike him after this

Reminder of what GSP looks like on the ground against a fresh elite level grappler.

Lol. I can’t believe that never happened to him in the UFC. The blueprint was so simple if only his opponents had seen that video.

He was a top ranked WW fighting and struggling or losing to guys not even in the top 30. He could barely beat ranked guys back then, he definitely wouldn't be beating them now

Prime kos couldn't walk through the division in his own time...

Magny would beat prime Kos tbh. Overhand right with great power and wrestling. Not enough nowadays.

You did see what Chiesa just did to Magny right? And Koscheck was twice the wrestler Chiesa is with better striking/power to boot.

He was inconsistent. Could lose to Niko Price one month and 30-27 Neil Magny the next. I don’t think he would be champion but he was a tough out on his day. His double leg was a missile, so if you’re not stopping that forget it. And if you’re a little slow he might knock you out. I think he’d probably hover between 6 and 15 just based on being all over the place.

This. Josh Thomson recently said on a Bellator show that Koscheck had the most explosive double leg ever.

He only had a double leg, that's the problem. His striking was dog shit. His overhand worked on Yoshida level guys, he gets beat up on the feet by every single fighter in the current top 15.

He stood with Rumble for awhile and was fast enough to land on most guys who weren’t elite. The double leg was a huge weapon too.

I genuinely think it depends on under what circumstances he’s arriving in the year 2021 too. If you let a top camp watch all his fights and then unleash a top fighter on him out of the blue, there’s a good chance he gets gameplanned and beat. But if you could drop Koscheck into that top camp and then start fighting guys around the top 15-20 in six months or a year, I think he’d have a solid run.

I just think it’s easy to look back in hindsight and say that guys like Chris Lytle and Diego Sanchez sucked, but most guys look like journeymen a decade later. It’s also easy to say that guys like Rumble and Daley were one-dimensional, but both have plenty of legit wins and had each knocked out four straight guys before Koscheck dominated them.

He’s not perfect but he was very talented.

Standing and actually striking are 2 completely different things. He had 1 actually flurry, he poked Rumble in the eye twice, and faked an illegal knee.

Koscheck was very one dimensional just like Daley and Rumble. Daley had 1 solid win in Kampmann and Rumble had 0 solid wins.

Guys like Koscheck and Fitch back then got so much praise because they had win streaks and "dominated" guys with their wrestling and Koscheck knocked a couple guys out. But if you look at who they actually fought and beat when they were the top 3 at WW, it leaves a lot to be desired. They get far too much praise, especially Koscheck.

You see what Magny did to Lombard? Who Jake Shields struggles with........

I met Kos he’s a little dude I was like “damn he’s really small”. Magny and Chisea are huge dudes. They will look like Jon Jones next to Rashad. His wrestling might not be nearly as effective as you think against these larger WW’s today.

Not the same as the guys he was fighting effectively with it. How many solid grapplers did he out wrestle? soon to be LW Diego Sanchez? He took him down once. Any wrestler he got a take down on wasn’t down for long. Lawler, Pierce, Hendricks, Ellenberger, GSP etc and they also got him down.... They basically all out wrestled him, took him down more or neutralized him and beat him. Pierce should have won tbh. Minus Diego anyone he faced with decent wrestling he was ineffective against.

He only effectively layed on Lytle, Daley, Ficket and Jeff Josslin and they even got up a few times. His wrestling is so overrated considering it was useless in meaningful fights.

Magny or Chisea would destroy him.

Lol this post is so full of fail. I’m glad you got to meet Koscheck though...it appears he thoroughly emasculated you by how much you hate him.

Lombard was effectively washed and off the juice when he fought Magny and he still almost finished him. This is one of the first many inaccuracies in your post and I’ll be happy to expose more if you respond.

At least they were not ballooned up lightweights who couldn’t cut it in their division ( Burns, Masvidal, Rda).

???

Matt Serra is litteraly a former LW lol. So was BJ Penn. WTF are you talking about ?

I was a big Kos fan back in the day but no, he wouldn’t. He was never really champ material but was definitely an exciting contender.
