Prime Koscheck runs through today's division

26 - 2. Two UFC Belts including going up a weight class after a 4 year layoff. Dominated the WW division for a decade. He had his downs, but mostly ups. His legacy is solid, GSP is Top 5 in most GOAT discussions. Only Jon Jones has not experienced the downs although technically he lost to Matt Hamill due to DQ in a fight he dominated. A couple of close decisions recently that could have gone the other way for Jones, but decisions are sometimes controversial. Anderson Silva and Fedor had their losses and close fights too. Professional fighters get hit, get hurt, kicked in the nuts and sometimes get their eyes poked.

You're comment about Shields winning the striking battle is ludicrous. Go back and watch the fight or the highlights. Eye pokes can change a fight as vision is very important to the striking battle. Shields was absolutely shameful in his continually striking and slapping with an open hand with fingers extended instead of balling a fist. In addition, I don't recall Shields ever going around claiming he won. I've never heard anyone claiming Shields won that fight or deserved to win that fight or came close to winning that fight until your moronic post tonight. You are among a distinct minority around the MMA globe on that point there Skippy...but if you don't know what your talking about regarding MMA I guess it makes sense somehow in your mind...

Condit was bleeding badly in pretty much every round vs. GSP. You simply fail to look at all the facts based upon an entire fight which is 25 minutes for title fights. Condit didn't even win the round you are referring to. How fucking stupid is that...moronic is what it is. McGregor had a slim margin in R1 vs. Poirier, but took strategic damage and then got KO'd or TKO'd early in R2. In your world McGregor winning R1 is a big deal. In my world, McGregor suffered a KO or TKO loss, but did manage to win a close 10-9 score in R1 which was of little consequence in the big picture.

GSP was scoring knock downs with his jab, there are no Shields highlights in the fight highlights. Don't be such a dumb ass...one day you will be in the real world, like on the job and having a grasp of actual facts is a good thing.

gsp is allegedly gay. fully support him if he is
r u ?

Koscheck would not have beaten Usman lol.

He would have still gotten KO'd by Woodley even if he was the same fighter he was in the late 2000s.

Koscheck didn't even have that many great wins at welterweight in his prime. His best wins were against a severely dehydrated Anthony Johnson and Diego Sanchez who had a steph infection. His most impressive performance was a close split decision loss to Hendricks.

That's true. He outwrestled Hendricks and even put some GnP on him in round 3.

I thoughf he won.

Daley's a decent win too

Usman is supposed to be better than GSP? The guy isn't even better than Koscheck. Koscheck would clean out the entire division, he knocks out Usman, Burns, Colby and outwrestles Masvidal, Edwards and Wonderboy. Usmans striking sucks, it only looked good because Burns can't strike too
He got KTFOed by a bad rapper. So, no.

Not particularly relevant to an MMA fight as GSP would have been punching him in the face and kicking him in the legs. I don't recall Santos ever wearing a UFC belt...or winning a boxing or kickboxing title or Olympic medal in wrestling...It's called mixed-martial-arts for a reason...

Yet Burns is a world champion in BJJ and still manages to be a decent striker.

The point was people who are saying the WW division has regressed have it backwards.

The only guy in the current top ten that I'd bet on Koscheck to beat is Magny.

I believe you are wrong, Chiesa, Maia, Magny, stylistically, he would be a tough fight for Covington, Masvidal as well, I could see him grinding out a boring decision against Jorge. Koscheck was really inconsistent though, sometimes he looked like the clear cut #1 contender, other times got finished by the likes of paulo thiago....

I don't know about that but Koscheck, Fitch, Alves, Shields, Condit, Diaz and Hendricks in their primes could all be top ten today. WW is just a historically deep and talented division.

Kamaru's current title reign is definitely better than GSP's first half and on par with GSP's second.

Prime Kos got OBLITERATED by Paulo Thiago.

The best guy he beat iirc in regards to timings in careers was Diego which is something.

I dont wanna compare eras but no. Koscheck had alot of technical issues in his game, still probably a fringe top 15 which isnt too bad.

Only a right hand? What did GSP have in the second half of his career besides great timing with a double leg and a jab? Or are we just going to conveniently ignore how visibly terrified he looked of committing to any punches because he didn't want to get countered and knocked out after Serra did what he did to him? Because I recall him looking like a fish out of water when he wasn't able to take Hendricks down. I'm just saying...if you're going to talk shit then let's really talk then.
During the reign of GSP, he was heavily criticized for his inability to finish. He would flick out the jab...inflict minimal damage and win.

Usman is knocking people out with jabs.
