Mark Hunt def. Wanderlei Silva Decision (Split) 3 5:00
Takanori Gomi def. Jens Pulver KO (Punch) 1 6:21
Dan Henderson def. Yuki Kondo Decision (Split) 3 5:00
Mirko Cro Cop def. U Kevin Randleman Submission (Guillotine Choke) 1 0:41
Rulon Gardner def. Hidehiko Yoshida Decision (Unanimous) 3 5:00

Ryan Gracie def. Yoji Anjo Submission (Armbar) 1 8:33
Mu Bae Choi def. Paulo Cesar Silva Submission (Arm Triangle Choke) 1 5:47
Ikuhisa Minowa def. Stefan Leko Submission (Heel Hook)

Stefan Leko tapped to a leglock by Ikuhisa the punk? was it real? was it a fake? ever since seeing Stefan get dropped by Ogawa earlier in the year, its hard to know if Leko's 3 mma bouts were legit or not.

Ryan beat Yoji Anjo who legend records tried to challenge Rickson Gracie. Read it on that here:

This bout didnt seem to go much better for him.

Chonan gets the well deserved upset over Anderson Silva in his last Pride bout, finishing him off w the greatest clutch submission in clutch submission fucking histories

Just to show you how worthless the GOAT discussion is,people would point to this and say "well goats dont get tapped by Ryo chonan lol"

Yes,they do. It happens.

Rulon Gardner,Olympic Gold Medalist in Wrestling for the USA and national hero, defeats Japanese National hero and also olympic judo medalist,Hidehiko Yoshida. Not an exciting match, but Yoshida just could not get close the distance against the 400 lb Gardner, and just kept getting boxed up by the rudimentary sklls of Rulon,by virtue of size alone.

Crocop guillotines Big Kev quickly in a dissapointing rematch. Some people said Kev was paid to take a dive, and well...I cant say that wasnt the case, but who knows? The first match saw big Kev knock out the croat in a stunning upset, one of the biggest of all time.
Takanori-Gomi-vs-Jens-Pulver.gif

Pulver tries to go blow for blow with Gomi in a fight where Gomi packed a bigger punch and a lesser chin, and went down for his sins.

Sakuraba pulled out of his scheduled first bout with his long time nemesis, Wanderlei Silva, and has to pull out 4 days before the fight with broken ribs, and Mark Hunt steps up to take the challenge.

Wanderlei accepts this fight like the Just Bleed God pious servant that he is. The bell rings and Wanderlei goes right at the k-1 champion and throws fucking hands and actually does damage. Eventually the patient Hunt finds the holes in the defense and with just one or two connects, fucks Wanderlei all up.

Wanderlei goes down and when they try to reposition the fighters in the ring,Wanderlei butt scoots to the position and is asked with concern,if he is OK,and Wanderlei nods that yes,he is,even though we all know,he is not.

Hunt is also able to power out of alot of Wand's sub attempts.

This also marks the debut of the Atomic Butt Drop.

Hunt is awarded a controversial (but in my opinion well derserved) victory, marking the first time Wanderlei has lost any fights in 5 years.
Oh Shit the main event? lets talk about it. The main event is the real finals of the 2004 HW World GP finalists. Fedor and Nogueira fought to a no contest that night when a head butt opened up a cut on Fedor.
The stage was set for the two kings to settle it all. In the short second fight one could see Nogueira show a more aggressive submission game than in the first fight, and try to throw up leg submissions than to hold Fedor in the guard and slowly wait for the submission oppurtinities to come. So Fedor in this third fight changed tactics and fought primarily on the feet, destroying all of Nogueira's gameplan via using 4 dimensional chess. Fedor fought the exact opposite of the way hed fought last time, and Nog struggled to adjust to that.

Fedor was crowned da Gawd of the universe, henceforth.

Possible most iconic show of all time...

Funny story about the intro

Apparently Big Nog was running late for this one for whatever reason, so they wheeled his twin brother out instead - its why he's wearing the hood on the podium and doesn't get a close up...

He arrived 15 mins before the fight, and if he didn't, poor Lil Nog would have been forced to fight Fedor instead.

You can see in that last pic that Fedor was jacked back then. Fatty my ass. Kettlebell Fedor was real.

This write up made re-live every fight like I was watching it live again.
The fact that we remember these things so vividly speaks volumes about the impact these events had on us.

I sometimes wish we could go back in time so we could get tickets to all of these events, because that's about the only thing that could make it better.

@HHJ you're our time machine brother.

Anderson has had a crazy career... Tapping twice in Pride while being #1 at 170, then becoming the undisputed GOAT at 185, having ups and downs to end his MMA career and now looking Prime again in the Boxing Ring and could be the one to rid us of Jake Paul... Spider Bless
