PRIDE rules....

Especially if Islam wasn't aware that he was fighting under Pride rules, that makes it somewhat challenging to have a proper gameplan...

Yeah, people never point this out when someone says "pride rules" I mean, if the guy who won would have most likely lost under a different scoring criteria, he'd probably have done things a little fucking differently too. No one gives a shit about "pride rules" because that's not the scoring system that was used for this bout. In a fight to the death Volk probably would have never gotten out of the back take in the first round though.

This is why Pride was better and why UFC judging is BS -
Damage, Aggressiveness, Effort to finish the fight.
Control without damage, Point fighting - please, how can any real fan argue in support this??

The "scoring the whole fight" is even more subjective than scoring round per round, and we would see actual robbery more often.
Plus i'm not a super fan of the 10 minutes rounds, lots of guy gassing quickly

And Islam beats him in a collegiate wrasslin match.

But this is fighting and an ass whooping contest. Who whooped the other guys ass?

Well that was Volk. So by a man's criteria of a fight, he won. Fuck the round by round based system. It makes it a game and not a fight.

But ultimately those are the ruled we go by. So if it scored by round you better dominate or finish your opponent.

Neither was close to finishing and Islam actually had more of the big moments on the feet.

In PRIDE, he would've been fined and stood up for stalling though. Would've made the fight more interesting.

Fun part of the Pride rules is the 10 minute first round. Not the soccer kicks or face stomps (which were cool), but a lot of fighters would just buckle because of the 10 minute first round.

The round system was better, too. 10 mins then 5. Pride did have bias with judging of Japanese fighters, so they both have flaws.
