Seriously this era was the pinnacle of MMA. Even UFC fights were more exciting back then.

There are still some good fights here and there in UFC but they're few and even then the camera angles they use hamper it a bit.

I wish they included the in ring staredowns

I used to get free satellite TV back then, all the ppv were free. I had an old projection big screen tv and we'd get together and about 10 or 15 of us would drink, eat, and watch boxing and ufc. When I discovered pride it was an eye opener. Such entertaining violence.

I love seeing old fights on youtube. I remember being a teenager recording these on my dad's DVR and had tones of PPVs, UFC unleashed, Best of Pride, Strikeforce, etc.

I honestly think that was the best era of being an MMA fan.

Pride was great, but let's not pretend they didn't put on some absolute shit show fights too

I miss caring and actually getting a group together to watch the fights, no I'm lucky if I stay up till 10 and even watch the prelims
I'm usually putting my kids to bed during the main event now so I never watch them live

When Pride was around, I was still a student and worked in a bar. Everybody was talking about it. MMA was really mainstream back then.

Pride is the best thing to ever happen to mma

Ufc was just the necessary evil that tried to come in and monopolize the sport.

They basically succeeded

I don’t know exactly why PRIDE went down. I heard it had something to do with the Yakuza pulling out of the business, but I’m not sure. To me, it was a much better product than the UFC ..we’re talking about pure entertainment.

Today’s UFC is trash. It’s a garbage product that sells like crazy just because there’s no solid competition on the western side of the world.

Still have dozens of events recorded on VHS
(from the era of satellite dishes & paying for tv)

<{danayeah}>

Pride will always have a special place in my heart. That’s when I started to watch and train. But I still love mma today. We are just spoiled with how much mma there is.

Back in the pride era it was maybe a ppv a month and I remember there was more time to build anticipation.
