"Camp Nelson was one of the largest Union Army recruitment centers for African American Union soldiers, then known as United States Colored Troops. During the war, thousands of enslaved African Americans risked their lives escaping to Camp Nelson, out of a deep desire for freedom and the right of self-determination. Today, the site is one of the best-preserved landscapes and archeological sites associated with United States Colored Troops recruitment and the refugee experiences of African American slaves seeking freedom during the Civil War.” - Donald Trump, 45th U.S. President

Only big news source I could locate: https://www.foxnews.com/us/civil-war-site-in-kentucky-designated-as-national-monument

It's hard to find anything on this event, because the National Mainstream Media basically refused to cover it. This is long overdue. I just hope no idiots decide to tear it down someday, because they don't want Trump getting credit, or they are racist Leftists, or for whatever reason. This recognition needed to happen for the families and communities of these brave men and for the rest of America.

Wasn't his idea and guarantee he took no joy in doing it. He and his hase sympathise with the confederate cause.

You think the biggest threat to monuments honoring black people is anti-Trump people and racist lefties?

"Wasn't his idea and guarantee he took no joy in doing it."

Oh... you have a link to prove your assertion?

Yes. They are the #1 destroyer of monuments of all sorts in the United States of America.

What are 5 of the sorts?

Here are Leftists destroying a Peace Monument.

"Cease firing, peace is priceless"

It's ridiculous that the AP decided to misrepresent what the monument was about.

Were they part of the Union or the Confederacy? If he honors the wrong one, all hell could break loose.

Once again, literally Hitler and shit.

What are 5 of the sorts?

1. Robert E. Lee Monument to Failure - Dallas, TX
2. Robert E. Lee Monument to Cowardice - New Orleans, LA
3. Robert E. Lee Monument to Treason - New York, NY
4. Robert E. Lee Monument to Denial - Durham, NC
5. Robert E. Lee Monument to Racism - Austin, TX

Its a nice symbolic gesture and he should get credit it for it but I think the problem some leftists like myself have with this kind of thing is that it seems to be a low risk stunt that doesn't necessarily do anything to improve the lives of African Americans or Americans in general in a concrete way. Don't want to disregard the value of something like this, its important history with symbolic power. And its good for him to do something that isn't polarizing but rather something all Americans can agree has value on some level. If he shifts to stuff like this and away from his polarizing tweeting from the hip then I'd have a lot more respect for him and he could possibly help depolarize this country.
