No United fan could really blame him for not wanting to join a weak, non-Champions League side that has lost one of its biggest names and then made maybe one upgrade to its starting 11. Tough to convince a guy on that kind of a project.

Therin lies the problem.

Literally could spend 300m with a 100% success rate and we’d still be half a team short of challenging.

No guy in his prime years is gonna want to come in in year one of a 3-5 year project.

Basically relying on Rashford etc to pull their fingers out and likes of Malacia to do an Andy Robertson.

Do people still expect him to come at this point? Think it’s 50% that not only do United not sign him, but no one else major at this point.

For £300M they could bring in Frenkie for £85M, a second CM or CDM, a striker and/or winger, and a right back. That could be a very tidy squad, especially with the hypothetical 100% success rate. I don’t think they win it with City’s depth, but I think they’d be closer to first than sixth and back in the Champions League—and as things stand, they’ll be closer to 10th than 2nd and will struggle to make the Europa Conference League.

Another winger comes in, and Rashford is a back up. He’s not a terrible squad option if he finds form. Sancho is the more talented player, with better skills, passing, and decision making. Hopefully ten Hag can drag 75% of his Dortmund form out for this season.

I’m not sure Malacia is going to be the starter, at least not right away (though I certainly hope so, because I drafted him in my fantasy league). Which is one thing that makes this window so weird. Shaw had a shocker last season like most but was looking sharp prior to that. Bruno’s form dropped but was looking to be their best player prior to that, as well. Now it seems 75% of United’s transfer have been to sign back ups/eventual replacements for them. I think Shaw needs to eventually go; but CM x2, RB, winger, and striker should have been higher priorities.

Yes, because fans don’t want to believe that United was so incompetent as to waste an entire transfer window on a guy who didn’t want to come from the beginning, forgoing their most necessary rebuild in the last 30 years in the process.

Pool down one and no one mocks them, Prem fred is slacking!
I was ranting about United when they score.

A bit delayed, but GET IN!!!!

We’ll see how things change, but Darwin coming on for Firmino should see them at least equalize. I’m hoping this is the start of a Liverpool decline, though. They hit the lottery with a few transfers and won’t be able to keep up with City’s spending for much longer.

Of course they’re not. United need 20 players for Brighton.

It’s why I said ETH’s biggest job is getting more out of the current squad, because on last season’s form barely any of them are even worthy of “decent squad player” status.

We’ve seen Pep spend a billion to get where City are, and that was with a side with 2 titles in the previous 4 years. Hard to compete with that. Arsenal have spunked close to 400m in the last 2 years, and most have them 4th at best this season.

Having a squad which needed wholesale changes, United bringing in what may well amount to a back-up LB, Bruno back-up (with a dicky ticker) and a 55m CB none of the big boys wanted is very…..well United.
