I heard about people getting worked up over the advert, I haven't seen it but i'm guessing people are overreacting.

Pretty much. It was a really dumb advertisement with a company basically lecturing men on how they should behave themselves, but throwing a razor in a toilet is even dumber than paying an arm and a leg for a Gillette razor blade.
