Futbol Premier League 2024/25 Thread - v4: Caraboo Cup Final edition - Newcastle Champions

I mean, completely neutral, not taking the piss etc, it’s Henry #1, right?

Combination of great on the eye test, great on personal stats and very decent trophy cabinet.

Can't deny how good Henry was, but I always never thought of him as a straight-up striker; he was always a left-sided forward, to me, and even when Arsenal were playing a 4-4-2, Henry would start in the left channel and play like an inside forward. I always find it crazy that he only played 7 full seasons in the PL. He won 2 PL titles and 3 FA Cups.

I thought he had more trophies at Arsenal than that. Still pretty good though for 7 seasons. He also played in some crazy good teams, and in all honesty, I would say Bekgkamp was my favourite player from that Arsenal era. Henry was amazing, though.

Best (proper) No 9 in the PL of the 00s got to be Ruud imo - Overall best attacking player I agree on Henry.

Best english striker Kane via more international and CL games.

Thing about Ruud was he was here for 5 seasons and only won 1 major in that time. Basically was right in the middle of our 2 truly exceptional eras.

Seem to remember him and a young Ronaldo didn’t get on, then he fell out with SAF. Few years later Ruud cold called Fergie and fences were mended.

I’d imagine if we kept him for a couple more years he would have flourished, as he had 2-3 very solid years at Real afterwards.

No hard feelings BUT the numbers don't lie :p 🙈

They don’t.

0.

Joking aside, I remember few years back Kane scored like 7 goals in 4 days for England…,..against something like Andorra and Latvia. WC 2018 he was golden boot winner, basically from a hat trick vs Panama and a couple of penalties.

No doubt a fantastic player, but stats aren’t the be all and end all.

As I say, that guy really needs a brace in the CL final or something to validate his career, imo.
