Futbol Premier League 2024/25 Thread - v4: Caraboo Cup Final edition - Newcastle Champions

@Arqueto

We won the biggest cup in the UK... about to make the Champions League. Life is great in Newcastle.
That would be the icing on the cake for this season

We're a bit out of our depth in the CL. I think the EL is a better match. Anyway winning the league cup qualifies you for the ECL playoffs, which we should be able to get through, so we've got that as a minimum. Currently in sixth we're outside the usual Europe places, but if you go through all the mathematical permutations it's even possible for seven teams in the PL to go to the CL and three to the EL. So if we qualify for EL or even CL remains to be seen. I even think I would prefer ECL to CL, like I'd rather progress slowly and steadily, than try to sprint and then fall.

We need CL now to boost the revenue so we can sign more top players and get Isak on a new contract. This is how we get around PSR for now and bring in more money without selling our top players.

The goal is to establish ourselves as a team that makes the CL consistently asap. We can worry about trying to compete in it later on; we just need to qualify for it for now to boost our income and gain more sponsorship money. I'm happy with any European football for now, as a fan, but the CL is the best way for us to grow commercially and attract top players.

Villa not making the CL again will hurt them; they are already close to being at their limit with the wage bill and transfers, and not getting it again will probably force them to sell. Making the CL one year and failing to do so the next is a one-step forward, two-step back situation.

It's part of the reason we haven't been able to strengthen our starting 11 for the past three windows. The revenue boost the CL brings is massive, and the EL doesn't even come close to the CL when it comes to financial benefits.
