Premier League 2024/25 Thread - v3: Happy New Year Edition

Wenger is smiling down from heaven.

Turning down 60m for a 28-year-old good but not great striker is crazy.

Especially when you got a great replacement on the bench.

It’s actually somewhat of an issue in the Prem, imo.

Best players should naturally progress to the bigger teams, but basically have about 14 teams who are rich, so aren’t pressured to sell.

Like United were quoted 75m for Branthwaite (Everton) last summer.

Nothing like 100M tax-free to make you realise you don't care about playing in the Champions League

Would be mental for a guy of his age.

Remember when China was doing a madness a few years back and they signed mid-20s Oscar from Chelsea. Think he’s still there now. Sure he made good money, but what a waste.

Veiga did it last season too. One of the top midfield prospects in Europe and he went to Saudi  that tax free money hits different.

Would be mad of Villa to sell him if they can get 60/70M for Watkins from Arsenal too.

The Wolves Portuguese guy too, who everyone thought was going to Newcastle on a dodgy deal.

Only one I kinda excuse is Ivan Toney.

A late bloomer, and apparently was “only” making like 30k at Brentford. Heard he was basically a pauper compared to rest of England squad!!!

Even then, sure half the Prem’s top clubs would happily take him on 150k right about now.
