Football is ridiculous these days. I suppose as a business decision, it's paying a premium to secure then asset. If they leave it 6 months, they'd have to compete with others. Also, there's the fact that they are 8 points behind Barca and there aren't many quality players that you could get for £30m mid season. Not sure if he'd be cup tied for Europe.

I think he could play CL for Real, as he only played in EL games this season.

Age and injuries, yes. If you could guarantee 150 games out of him over 4 years, he'd be a good signing obviously, but it seems unlikely. At 29, he doesn't strike me as the kind who'll be able to keep going at a world class level until 35, tbh. Think the time to sign him would have been summer 2017.

If we're gonna spunk another 200m in the summer, think there are better options than Bale at this point.

Yeah sadly I think you will probably be right about Bale, he is still awesome when fit tho.

At this point in time all the big teams will spend around 150-200m per Summer I think. 200m as a big club will get you 3-4 good players, one world class if you are lucky. Crazy times.
