I assume you're talking to me, mate? It's not just this game. As I said, it's been every game he's started, bar Palace at home. Every Gooner who watches every game knows we play better without him starting. I'm done trying to rely on a striker, who's never scored more than 16 goals in a season, to lead us to the league, especially when he's not creating many chances for others and slowing down play.

Would love for him to prove me wrong though.

Anyway, I've got work to do.

Its the system that is the problem. 4-2-3-1 can get overloaded too easily & you are left with a numerical disadvantage all over the pitch, leaving Ozil & Alexis isolated which consequently results in Giroud getting no service. Iwobi's support in the half spaces for Ozil & Alexis was non existent in the 1st half & Gab isn't a rt back, never mind a wing back. Complete chaos & a typical bipolar lack of balance. Again.

Giroud's recent form & late game heroics had helped mask it to an extent*, similar to how Ibra had for Utd at the beginning of the season. Mou noticed it for Utd & corrected it by changing into a 4-1-4-1 iirc ( @LEWIS540 ?)

You took Giroud off & got an extra midfielder to rectify your midfield being outnumbered all over the pitch. Started dominating possession but then were crossing balls(finally) into no one. Again. Cuz Giroud was taken off.

*Santi, Xhaka & El Neny are your only cm's capable of playing in a 4-2-3-1 somewhat competently but its still not the best system for them neither.

Agree with you that it's pointless starting Giroud if Arsene continues to insist on playing a system not suited to his strengths.

Fwiw, Spurs reverted back into a 4-2-3-1 last night & couldn't break a shite injury ravaged Sunderland side down. I assume Poch doesn't trust Wimmer in a back 3 & thought he still had enough quality to get the W considering the opponent. Wrong. 4-2-3-1 has gotten exposed & is fairly easy to defend, even for mid-lower table sides.

Fine margins in this game. Spurs losing Vertongen is huge. Arsenal not having their best 3 cm's available is a disaster.

We didn't get an extra mid, we just played Alexis up top, moved Iwobi to the left (where he's more comfortable) and put Theo out wide right. Alexis was brought into the game and led from the front. Much better link up with Iwobi and Ozil and that's why we created 4 or 5 goal scoring opportunities in the first 20 or so minutes in the 2nd.

Asking this in the most unantagonising way possible (honestly, as I don't feel up for a Blokey/Ceedubb showdown today), did you watch the whole game live or just the highlights? I know there were other bigger games on, so it's completely possible.

I'd rather we play Alexis than switch our whole system to accommodate Giroud. We haven't played with a big man up top since Alan Smith (smudger bless) and I prefer fast football.
