People forget that Rumble can wrestle.... He completely shut down Phil Davis wrestling who manages to wrestle damn near everyone else he fought. He had 0 success.

Jimi Manuwa was a kickboxer obviously nowhere near Alex but Rumble took him down in round 1 and beat him up before KOing him standing. And Rumble has nasty GNP look what he did to Bader.

Rumble wrestles he wins probably GNP TKO if he just stands he would get knocked out by Alex.

Johnson was one of the best examples of a bully right next to Overeem.

If the opponent wasn't scared of him and actually effectively attacked him, like Vitor did, he shut down.

Alex is somewhat of a slow starter though, so other than the leg kicks he's probably not going to freak Johnson out right away like Vitor did. But he will find that chin and once he taps it, Johnson will probably try to wrestle and end up giving up.

I think Rumble might potentially threaten with GnP in a scamble but I'm not sure I see him winning via prolonged grappling.

The striking honestly would be hard to predict, Alex is hittable and Rumble hits very hard from range but Alex is almost arguebly the best counter fighter in LHW history and is Rumble still going to be willing to thrown against that threat? he did tend to throw with his chin out and step in a lot which would put him at risk.

the only way to beat rumble is by rear naked choke. outside his eye injury tko bullshit (fuck steve mazzagatti), all his loses are this way. alex isnt taking rumble down. prime rumble destroys alex.

Losing by rear naked choke is usually a sign of a fighter giving up.

Unless you're fighting a BJJ legend. But all of rumbles losses weren't to guys like that. Cormier wore him out twice, as did koscheck. I think that's why people say he had cardio issues.

But anyone would gas with DC holding you down.
