What you guys think?
I have nowhere as much as you other guys but it's perfect for me and my sparring partner lol

I like it. I think thats the best bang for your buck setup. Especialy if you catch the gloves and headgear on sale. The new improved mexican r2c headgear looks good.

Thanks man! Yeah I did alot of research on sherdog so I could get the best for my money and this is what I got. So far I love this setup

What is your preferred source for Boon gloves?

K-star fightgear or muaythai-fighting's ebay store.

how's the hand compartment on the boons? heard they were a bit tight

I prefer tight gloves, so I'm probably a bad person to ask.
To me, 14oz boons fit perfect right out the box, 12s are great but require a break in period, and 16s are good but feel a bit roomy after a few workouts.

I only started wearing wraps full time the last 4 years or so (before, it was more of a part-time thing).
My 2 main types of wrap are Ringside & Everlast Mexican 180 wraps; 1 pair at a time.
If you're doubling up with 2 LeRoy wraps each time, your mileage may vary.
Until recently, I never used to wear knuckle guards.
With knuckle guards, the Boon 16s are freakin tight, but good. :)

Good taste though!

My I ask why you are trading your headgear?

It's not my style of headgear. I've been using cleto reyes for many years...maybe that's why i cant get used to a headgear that has a facebar.

Wow, if you didn't read the labels, you'd think they were a set.
Your picture of the Mexican headgear looks so much better than the one they have on the Ring To Cage site.

How much did the gear cost you? What kind of research did you do and how did you choose those? I'm looking for headgear and gloves too, but I have no idea how to tell what's good and what's not and what's the best for my money, etc.

Are the boon 12oz a lot tighter than then 14 even after they have broken in? got a pair of 16s and they fitted perfectly after a short break in, but was going to get some 12s for bag work, but not I'm a bot worried I wont get my hand in them

Sorry, I don't know if I can predict how they would fit you.
For me, the 14s and the 12s aren't *that* different; just that the 12s required a little longer break-in period to feel good and they stayed a bit tighter once broken in.
If I compared it to US shoe sizes, the two would be like a .5 size difference.
The difference between the 14s and the 16s is much more noticeable for me; like a full size difference.
My first pair of Boons back in 2009 were 16s and very big inside; my current pair is not as big, but when I think of Boon 16s, I still think huge hand pocket.
I'm almost scared to use my current 16s because I don't want them to stretch out; but at least with knuckle guards, they should still be good even if that happens.

Dude that is a great setup for the money you spent. You'll get plenty of miles out of them.

Hey man well I wouldn't have chosen that headgear if it wasn't for your awesome review so thank you!

Yeah man I tried to set it up perfect so I could show off my gear on facebook lol. Thank you!

Thanks, was just after a rough idea of if they are a lot smaller 12oz, think I will give them a go if they aren't much smaller than the the 14's.

Wanted something smaller than my 16 and was only going to the 14's if you had said the 12s are a lot smaller

what gym bag if any do you guys use?

I'm on a Datsusare PGB04, it's huge and I fit 1 pairs of shin gaurds, 2 or 3 pairs of boxing gloves, a couple of pairs of mma gloves about 10 pairs of wraps, gum guard plus all the normal kit and change of clothes. I bet I could get my Thai pads and mits in there if I wanted to. They are pretty expensive, but I have had mine 2-3 years and it's still in really good condition so better than buying a new bag every year or so

Shame I don't train muay thai anymore :(

If anyone wants anything reviewing or any comparison pictures then let me know.

How do you like the Twins bag gloves?

And why did you stop?

thanks for the answers guys, got to pick up a gym bag been lugging my gear in the back of the truck

They are really nice, the velcro strap helps alot with wrist support compared to the normal elastic ones that alot of people at my gym had. The leather held up well and the padding is fairly solid too which makes a nice pop when hitting the mitts.

And i stopped because it was either muay thai or boxing, and the boxing gym was better so i chose that.
