Can I get sources for the back stage fight stories? I wanna hear/read about that.

It's always sad to hear someone you've held a vision of being such a badass unstopable force getting punked by someone like chris jericho who I view as a skateboard/rock band punk. It messes up my pro wrestling universe world view... Like iron man holding his own vs Thor or Green Arrow defeating Ras al ghul.

Nice, I'm impressed that we both made the exact same joke. I wonder if we have some kind of psychic connection.

If by "psychic connection" you mean a forum exchange (which I referenced in my reply to you) then I guess so...

Here is the quote that was from Rex btw.

I know that you were having back and forths in that thread, this comment just made me laugh the most. I'm not sure how long of a fan you have been in PW, but if you are not that long, and never saw Steiner in his prime, you should check him out.

Also, there was a great thread about backstage fights and such in the old Wasteland PW section. Not sure what happened to it but it had a ton of good stories.

I'll leave you be. Cheers.

Appearantly there are indeed still people who watch and pay for wrestling
beyond the age where you learn to type, as this forum illustrates.

Can you give me a quick explanation in your own words why you feel this way? This mind set fascinates me. I am genuinely curious what events in your life drove you to this offensive and elitist point of view.

I would appreciate a civil, non condescending response with as few insults as possible.

i just found out tajiri is also an acupuncture doctor lol

Is that a character from a show based around comics in your AV?

Well, let's first say this is a free country and you can like what you want.

But I find it amazing so many (adult) people like
pre determined soap opera matches of guys who are roided to the gills.
And cheer for them while the outcome of the match is already set.

They portray an image of strongness while most of those HW's would get
KO'd or subbed by a UFC welterweight.

Some of the jumps they do are indeed impressive.
But the volume of fans is amazing to me.
I relate the whole thing to boys in the 7-14 range.
Yet there people who pay 59.95 for all this.

If I have a company one day.
I would try to hire McMahon's marketing people.

I'm from Holland, so it might be a cultural thing.
An adult man here, who says he's a Hulk Hogan fan,
would get looked at rather strangely.

Now I feel bad. Even though my opinion is the way it is.
I should not have said it.

You never hear about riots between wrestling fans and
wrestling fans do not make war, just want to be entertained.

I also have entertainment preferences like comics, that others
find juvenile. You guys have your wrestling fun.
It's not for me.

I'm not sure if I understand what you are trying to say. Are you saying that Soap operas aren't a valid form of entertainment? Nobody in Holland watches Drama/Comedy Tv shows or Displays of awesome athleticism?

You have a problem with steroids? Because if you think pro wrestling fans are delusional and simple minded I got some news for you if you think you watch any pro sport where steroids aren't involved.

Are you saying it's stupid because Actors and performance artists can't beat professional prize fighters in a professional prize fight?

Help me out here because it sounds like you are suggesting that pro wrestling fans are mentally inferior to you. So I'd appreciate if you used your advanced intellect to articulate to me why I shouldn't be watching this. All you did is give me a broad description of what pro wrestling is. That doesn't explain to me why I am retarded for enjoying it.

Pro wrestling fans at least know their shows are a work, unlike kickboxing ad MMA fans.

I didn't know mma was fixed outside of Japan. Can you enlighten me a bit?

Did you not see Hendo put over Vitor last night?

But seriously.

My comment was a dig at the Joe Armstrong being "that guy".

Don't take it literal.

Actually no I haven't seen that fight yet.

I think its ironic that the era of pro wrestling that fans cling to the most.. The "Attitude Era".. Is also when entertainment elitists decided that pro wrestling was a inferior product. I don't blame them with all the insane sadistic Michael bay level crap that Vince put on TV during the time. Attitude era fans forget that while Austin and Rock were fun to watch there was also the job squad.. Al Snow.. Golddust.. etc.. 10% of the attitude era was the best ever which caused rabid fans boosting the product to people who didn't give a shit about it.. While 90% of it was pure over the top garbage attempting to be edgy and outrageous. I don't blame it having the reputation it has at all. But that doesn't change the fact that the hate for pro wrestling is a mob-mentality opinion held by people that have mostly never even seen the product.

Attitude Era worked because the demographic was high in numbers, mixed with the fact that counter culture became the mainstream durin that time.

Do people in Holland get looked at strangely for enjoying choreographed fight scenes with predetermined results, between actors/stuntmen roided to the gills, too?

Yes, They are an enlightened and sophisticated people. They only accept live Shakespeare plays, the beetles, and public hanging as entertainment.

it's more irrational to hate pro wrestling than to love it
