Mir/Nelson is the most iconic judo toss in UFC history

Watching this fight these days is nearly unbearable. Joe Rogan is on Karo's nuts so hard the entire fight, even while GSP is absolutely dominating.
I went back and re-watched it. Karo had some good sub attempts but as an F-level athlete against a larger D-level athlete it just wasn't gonna happen. It was also GSP's first fight in the UFC. GSP dominated but didn't do anything terribly exciting (shocking right?) - Karo's sub attempts and the scrambles were the highlights. Not sure Rogan's commentary was that bad under the circumstances.

Oh good, the athlete debate. That's how you kill a promising thread.

Anybody got Hayato Sakurai's throws on Mac Danzig?

I always felt this was one of the best elements of his game. I also feel like he started to use it less and less as time went on an favored going straight for the KO which led to his decline. But his ability to use Judo type leverage and scramble like crazy set everything else up.

It seems like many fighters had a wide range of tools earlier in their careers then devolve into throwing bombs as they age.

No love for the GOAT yet ?

not i gifs I know but I didn't have that much time...

Fedor said that leg takedowns are baad for the back and tire the legs out quickly.

He seemed to think everything trough and gave a huge importance to conserving energy.
