Post epic Judo throw GIFS in here.

sso, about Lombard-Shields? Rousey-Tate?

The real issue is you simply has a lot more fighters moving from wrestling to MMA these days, partly because the US isn't much of a hotbed of Judo with a few exceptions and partly because the places were Judo is strong it tends to pay better.

Even back in the day we were getting a lot of fighters moving quite late in there careers and not really cross training much. Part of the appeal of someone like Yoshida in Pride wasn't really to see whether he could become a more rounded MMA fighter but to see "MMA vs Judo".

Came here for this.

Mir is usually weak in the clinch, but for some reason completely owned Nelson here. Awesome.

To be fair, if Fedor hadn't held the ropes, 230lb Fedor was about to get ragdoll slammed by 170lb Olympic Silver Medalist Lindland

Watch the video again. Surely you can differentiate between someone holding the ropes and resting the arm on it

Why is it that all throws and trips are always referred to as Judo?

Not that it bothers me, but I'm confused as to why Greco-Roman wrestling and its clinch techniques are such a rare talking point. There's a gross amount of overlapping between the two arts, yet it's always called Judo. An exception that comes to mind would be Suplexes (and even those exist in Judo).

Greco is not a rare talking point.

Also: ashi waza. Greco has none because leg sweeps and foot trips are illegal.

I realize it was just an exhibition, but the Fedor vs. Aoki match had some fun throws.

Fedor was kind of an asshole for that :)

Lol, I thought so at first too, but it looks like Aoki did a solid breakfall with his left hand on hitting the mat, and it looks like Fedor didn't fall with his full weight on him.

still aoki was half his weight :)

That's what happens when you put on a jacket. Handlebars. That's why I laugh at people who think you can put a jacket on a wrestler and he'd still take down judoka easily. The game changes completely.
