Possible superfight

How would a potential superfight between Leon Edwards and Islam Makhachev go? For this hypothetical, Islam bulks up to 170 meaning that the superfight takes place at welterweight. I think it would be a pretty cool fight to make. Thoughts?
 
leon 'scissorhands' edwards would get ragdolled by islam. very good matchup for islam actually
 
Islam would not have to bulk up to 170. He's already a welterweight that cuts down to lightweight.

Of course I realize that. Islam is not every fighter though. His grappling skills are good enough to hang with any welterweight without bulking up because he is already big enough. What's your point?

Ok, so he cuts to LW...and the guys that cut to WW are even bigger than he is, and that's why they don't cut to LW.

That's why it was suggested that he bulk up a bit sir.

He doesn't need to bulk up. He could go fight the welterweight champ right now without gaining any weight and take the belt. Why would he bulk up and risk never fighting at lightweight again? The cut to 155 is hard enough as it is. I don't see anybody at 170 outgrappling Islam when he doesn't have to drain himself to make 155.

Delusional. That glass jaw is getting shattered in the big leagues.
 
It would be a classic striker vs grappler match. I think that's a pretty favorable match up for Islam, but it's far from a lock.

Leon looked very good at stopping Usman's takedowns. He's got excellent balance and awareness of positioning. And Volk has laid out a viable strategy for dealing with Islam's takedowns and neutralizing the submission game.

I'd personally rather see Islam defend his bellt at LW once or twice more.
 
The term super fight gets used too much on Sherdog. A super fight would've been between 2 dominant champs that have had many defenses and built an aura. GSP vs Anderson is a prime example of a super fight.

I have a feeling once Islam goes up to WW he won't come back down sir.
