diet has nothing to do with cardio, helps but that's not the main factor; Mcg doesn't like to be pushed in training and on top of that he uses a style that uses too much energy.

Add coke, booze, inactivity...

Mcgregor comes out fast, his speed only drops off because he goes 100% from the get go.

If he could learn to pace himself, he'd do much better. Watch some of the "slow" guys in the ufc, and you'll notice they still have bursts of speed, they just try to fight at a slower pace as much as possible and limit those bursts.

Coincidence that his cardio issues were first apparent in the Diaz fight? Some quack's diet advice cost the King a victory.

His cardio is bad because he is a finisher. You can't throw with power (using your body instead of arms only) without getting gassed. It's the same for Anthony Johnson, Ngannou, Vitor Belfort, etc.
Only power puncher that doesn't gas as much is probably Romero
 
Conor doesn't eat GOAT meat. This is the problem. He probably eats allot of sheep meat though. But sheep can be cloned, and there will be allot of clones like him in the future as there were allot of sheep like him in the past.

It's obvious he's mainly fast twitch which is a double edged sword in the lower weight classes. It seems no matter how much he spends and how long he trains it, it doesn't get any better.
How come guys like Pacquiao are able to be fast twitch and still have ridiculous output
 
It was discovered pretty recently, within the last few years I think, that there is a huge variance amongst the population as far as how much individuals can increase their VO2 max. Some people are actually labeled as non responders and either can't improve their VO2 max at all or only a tiny amount, regardless of how hard they work at it.
