Decades ago there was a furious debate going on about whether easy access to porn increases or decreases rape.

That debate is pretty much settled now as the numbers all point to reduced rapes once porn becomes easily accessible.

So my question is, what does this mean for society? The basic premise is that if we give people a little taste of what they desire, they won't feel as compelled to gain it by victimizing others.

Take that other thread about the chick being photographed while sunbathing. Would those dudes be following her home or doing other dangerous behaviors if they couldn't take photos to masturbate to later?

And what about pedos? Sexual assault on children is the most heinous crime imaginable and we'd do anything to reduce it, but surely we can't just allow pedos to have child porn. Even if you didn't allow the creation of new stuff so no more kids were exploited, and let them view only the existing stuff in a controlled environment with a therapist, that still just seems so wrong.

I mean how can they be sure one thing relates to the other? This could be just a result of a more humane and mature society not just the fact that porn is easily accessible nowadays... Anyway i don't know and i don't think this can be know unless we ask every rapist in the world if watching porn wouod make they want to rape less

Not a surprise. If you are feeling antsy and you can't get sex. A quick jerk calms you down rather quickly. So Porn have saved a lot of women in particular in being raped.

This one is an intresting one though, i remember reading about two years ago that lolicon hentai was gonna be banned by some government agency ( don't know if it happened though)
I remembered reading a comment of a guy that was like " great now phedophioes got nothing more to satisfy then without commiting a crime and are gonna start to molest children"... Made me think though is that type of stuff responsable for we not having so many child molestors in society?
As much as its a despicable act we gotta understand that this people are sick its not like they want to find children hot, the number of folks who fell atracted to children but don't do anything cause they know its wrong its probably far greater than folks that actually do something

Maybe I'm weird, but I'm trying to find the relation as far as there's some dude who feels like going to rape someone and just decided to go to Pornhub instead. Like how does work? Is he saying "I feel like raping....no, wait, just a porn vid will do." Just seems odd.

There were several examples, not all from the proliferation of the internet. For instance, the Czech republic in the 1940s and 50s went from no porn to legalized porn and they saw the results in the rape case decline.

I believe there's some kind of adrenaline rush behind it.
I would imagine it's on the same level as getting into a physical fight with someone.

But you're right there's no relation.

Maybe, maybe not. The effect size is likely quite small in either event.

It definitely contribute to the 'does size matter?' debate in a big way.

I don't know if I trust these "psychologists" that are sitting around watching porn all day on MY TAX DOLLARS.
