Porn reduces rape, and the implications of that fact

I remember a documentary about a pedophile that has never acted on his desires. He said he knows it’s wrong and doesn’t want to hurt a child but he can’t control the desire and sexual attraction. His take was that the more a society shames a pedophile and makes a pedo out to be a monster, the deeper into the shadows they go to avoid detection.

he says the correct way to deal with the problem is to encourage them to be more open about it and allow them to seek help without fear or shame

Watching porn definitely gave me ideas I never thought of, good and bad.

Maybe I'm weird, but I'm trying to find the relation as far as there's some dude who feels like going to rape someone and just decided to go to Pornhub instead. Like how does work? Is he saying "I feel like raping....no, wait, just a porn vid will do." Just seems odd.

I spose you could argue this is all rape not just sterotypical attacking strangers in a park, oversexed collage fratboys less likely to take advantage of some girl at a party. Really though I'm guessing its as much or more correlation rather than direct causation, more porn tends to go hand in hand with being more socially liberial and open about sex which reduces rape.

I mean it does make sense if you use scorpion logic. Scorpions tend to be harmless after they used their stringer because they used their poising sting and so they are recharging time and cant do shit. Same thing with a porn watcher. Every time you nut= being on dat recharging time which means you are not prone to lustful thoughts that can lead to bad behavior.

Also before porn, people were barbaric, raping, pillaging and breeding left and right. In this era, people watch porn, nut and go to sleep. The drawback is that you are sacrificing your energy to engage in meaningful pursuit in life like learning a new skill or improving your physical attribute. So I guess the whole thing has its pros and cons.

It's because excessive porn viewing makes you gay and non-manlet men are tougher targets than most women, ergo less rape

Porn rewires your brain and takes away your sex drive if you watch too much. I can see it doing something for the odd person, but no it’s only going to fuel/foster those desires over a long period and make a bad person worse IMO. You hear about these sickos getting into all sorts of weirdo fetish shit and then attempting to (or really) acting them out with unwilling victims - desires they never would have had they never been exposed to the internet porn.

Rape goes a lot deeper than watching porn, a lot of those serial killer rapist guys do it as a power thing, not sexual. The article also states “sexual assault” in some things and “rape” in the other, we all know how those definitions can vary.

If it’s down I’d bet it’s in ratio only, as in the number of people doing it has gone up significantly, but so has the population since whenever so it creates a “smaller” number. I call bullshit on that article, personally.

Decades ago there was a furious debate going on about whether easy access to porn increases or decreases rape.

That debate is pretty much settled now as the numbers all point to reduced rapes once porn becomes easily accessible.

So my question is, what does this mean for society? The basic premise is that if we give people a little taste of what they desire, they won't feel as compelled to gain it by victimizing others.

Take that other thread about the chick being photographed while sunbathing. Would those dudes be following her home or doing other dangerous behaviors if they couldn't take photos to masturbate to later?

And what about pedos? Sexual assault on children is the most heinous crime imaginable and we'd do anything to reduce it, but surely we can't just allow pedos to have child porn. Even if you didn't allow the creation of new stuff so no more kids were exploited, and let them view only the existing stuff in a controlled environment with a therapist, that still just seems so wrong.

but it has increased impotence and dudes being cucks

Thinly veiled Pro NAMBLA thread.......<{clintugh}>

You don't see his argument? Let the sicko's fap to drawings and I dunno, fake rubber children or something so they leave real kids alone.

Seems to make sense. Give them an outlet in the same way porn is an outlet for regular horny people.

It's not just the Scientific American study that states this though. It's well established scientific fact. The individuals who might be predisposed to sexual assault and/or rape require an outlet for their desires much like an overheated boiler needs occasional steam releases otherwise it will blow up. Porn provides those individuals that release.

There is a delicate balance to using porn. You have to make adjustments of usage so you are not a sex crazed person on the hunt all the time and/or frying your dopamine receptors from using it too much.

If you're into that kind of porn you are probably not far off from having rape be your thing IRL.

You're more or less correct. But then you have those individuals who can't control themselves who go deep into the no-fap & anti-porn cultures who would like to see a prohibition on adult material. This leads to the argument of whether normal, well-adjusted people who occasionally use porn for entertainment or the enhancement of their sex lives should be denied it because of the relatively few individuals who become addicted to it. I think not.

To be fair I would say it's more than just a few individuals who become porn addicts Turg.

Oh, millions of people become addicted but it's still a small percentage compared to those who are able to use pornography in a responsible manner.
"In fact, research tells us that porn use progresses to the level of addiction in approximately 5 to 8 percent of adults who use it. For these individuals, porn use escalates from a pleasurable distraction to a behavioral compulsion that creates loneliness, isolation, shame, and numerous other negative life consequences."

Porn is bad for your brain. Maybe they should look into more therapy and ways to find out when young people are developing unhealthy dangerous sexual desires.
