Popular porn site "GirlsDoPorn" going bankrupt, getting sued

The way you're framing this isn't the way it's being said, though. They're not making a legal argument, they're making a moral argument. You could concede that legally the other party was at fault while still maintaining that morally the girls should have known and done better.

lol Thank you.

It’s like people don’t understand how conversations work on forums. There isn’t just one aspect of this being discussed here. A lot of people in here are just expressing opinions about different sides of this situation.. not just the exact details of how the court case is going to go, or exactly what’s involved in the court case. Of course there are people being ridiculous about it too, but that’s also part of forum discussions.

I don't disagree but again, from reading the article and the situation..It sounds like they got bait and switched. Many of them weren't even told until they actually arrived In Cali. Which puts them In a very precarious situation since now their lives are essentially In the hands of the company. Of which I believe wasn't even properly named.

I think at 18-19, many of us are subject to being taken advantage of by well spoken businessmen. Many of which are borderline sociopathic, charismatic, persuasive and manipulative as fuck. It's easy to say but It sounds like a nice little operation / scam they had going.

But yeah, I do agree. An Intelligent person isn't going to fall for such a thing, even at that age. I think women In particular are more at risk to being manipulated than men though, generally speaking. Many women need to be better taught how to not allow themselves to get taken advantage of In this world, often times they need to make their own mistakes and taken on the ride before they know better from experience. It's a different sort of struggle than the one men face.

To be skillfully fraudulent Is an art In itself and It can subtly catch many of the inexperienced and unwise off gaurd.

If they're of legal age and able to sign a contract, they should know better. I bought my first home when I was 19, THAT was a lot of paperwork. Common sense taught me to contact an attorney, educate myself about what I didn't know, and I'm hardly intelligent.

Like I said, there were many red flags BEFORE sitting in front of that contract:

1. Taking a "modeling" ad from CL seriously.
2. Not getting proper background information on the persons/company, then doing 5 minutes of Googling.
3. Flying to another State. Again, without properly vetting the persons/company.
4. Taking messages/phone calls from another "female" as a sign of trust. Did they vet these women? Nope.
5. Contract. Not demanding to have the time to fully read it, or ask for a copy to be reviewed, etc. They should have asked for a copy of the contract before even getting on a fucking plane.

They WANTED to believe everything was ok, because they wanted the easy money. And once again we learn, there's no such thing.

"An Intelligent person isn't going to fall for such a thing, even at that age." I disagree, this is a common sense issue, nothing to do with being a Mensa member.

18 and 19 year old men have fought in wars, help build the Hover Dam, etc, but 18 and 19 year old girls are too dumb to follow basic common sense? This type of white knight'ing is exactly what creates such idiots. Raise your daughters better. You know, and I know, that these are the exact type of women that are always looking for the easy way out. $6000 for 30 minutes...come on.

Let's remember, the only reason they're pissed (suing) is because people ended up seeing their videos. There was no issue when they got paid, or before being outed.

Dumb people make dumb decisions all the time. Nothing more. Darwin.

You got a standing ovation from me

I see your point and it makes complete sense. I grew up racing motocross eventually to the pro level, which I'd imagine would be in the same realm as doing pageants in a sense, and there was no way my Pops didn't have tabs on where I was daily in to my early 20's....let alone just flying cross country for a few days without a good reason. But I know that's not everyone's case. I'm just very intrigued by that whole back story on them. Also their boyfriend's, my younger insecure self would have lost my shit, if all the sudden my broke college girlfriend was flying to San Diego for a "modeling" job out of no where after not ever doing any type of modeling. I know it happens, I just find it all interesting how it all went down.
You can tell them where you're going, even what you're doing (i.e. photo shoot) without really spilling the beans. Also, a lot of them had backgrounds doing modeling or pageants or whatever. Pretty easy to hide initially. Harder to hide after the fact, especially when the video gets released on free sites either by the content creators themselves or by another party. And then you've got weaponized autism on top of that.

You may see it as a moral argument, but it is in fact a legal argument. There are laws against deception and fraud. Which is why one judge has already ruled in their favor to continue the case.

So if your girl is adamant you shouldn't watch porn since you're with her, she's probably trying to keep you from stumbling upon video of her getting spit roasted or taking a pool cue up the butt.
Uh oh, sounds too real for you.

Very well said. I actually had a conversation about this whole thing with my daughter. Not because I believe she'll ever do porn but because I want her to understand the many ways people will try to fuck you over in this life.

@Jackie Blue can correct me if I’m wrong.. I think he’s talking about the posters opinion. Opinions about this situation are also being discussed separate from the actual legal side of this case. Most of us discussing our opinions acknowledge the case itself is separate from what our opinion about the morality and so on is.

There are people in here judging (fair or not) the chicks decision to do this in the 1st place.. which is sparking conversation separate from the actual case.

Look, I'm more liberal, in both a political and a social sense than a lot of people here. Also, as a libertarian, I'm more concerned about the fraud and deception than the porn. I'm just trying to get you to understand their argument better and the context in which it is given. They're not expressing their legal opinions, they're expressing their moral opinions. Whether you agree with that morality or not, understand that is what they are doing.

Wait, when you say "they", who are you talking about? I think we may be talking about two different things here.

I don't agree with your argument at all but its not even worth debating it. The thing is even if these girls are dumb-- low IQ, raised poorly etc none of that makes what happened to them OK. It sounds like you're saying its OK that this happened because they are dumb people and I think that is terribly cruel and wrong.

Wait, when you say "they", who are you talking about? I think we may be talking about two different things here.
The people making the arguments that you cited. Look at the context. They didn't say "here's my legal opinion" or "as a lawyer I think..." They shared their layman opinions based on their sense of morality. They're not lawyers or people well versed in the law. They're people whose sense of morality has been shaped by their religion, their upbringing, their life experiences, etc.

This. It's ironic because I'm sure a lot of these same people were blaming the big banks for the financial crisis, yet many of the victims were just stupid and/or greedy. People share fault in most situations and definitely in most civil suits. People always want to look at things like this as picking a side and going all in on that side. I think most people agree that these girls were naive and careless, but do you let that excuse a business operating in that fashion? It's a really daft mindset. These guys were shady as fuck and deserve damages. These girls have already experienced irreparable damages as the videos will never be gone from the internet.

Okay, I sort of got off track there and thought you were talking about the women involved in the lawsuit. I'm not sure how I managed that.
I don't disagree with what you're saying at all. But I also don't know why anyone here is giving us they''re opinion on moralities here. That's why I was saying this has gotten stupid. It's a legal case, we should only be considering what's right in the eye of the law. There's plenty of things that are legal but immoral to many of us. But people don't get sued over them.

How dare you stay on topic!

You don't seem to get my point-what happened to them was preventable, by them. I outlined it in great detail. I'm not "ok" with it, I certainly see the connection between dumb people and dumb decisions, though. White gonna knight.

Once again, saying "these girls should have known they were being lied to" is not a legal defense.

Honestly, I think they are naive, dumb, and desperate all rolled into one. Also, like many kids, they think they are invincible and nothing bad will happen. I mean 18-21 year olds, male and female, do some really stupid shit. I know I did.

The only difference between now and then is that there are more cameras around in this age, and more eyes to scrutinize people's misdeeds.

It makes me sick to see people instinctually pull out their cameras to record a victim in distress instead of offering aid.

Lol at people trying to pick a defendable side <{MingNope}>
