International Pope Francis has died BREAKING - New Pope Elected - American Cardinal Robert Prevost becomes Pope Leo the XIVth

<WhatIsThis>I believe Rip would call this demonic

No doubt. Rip would be all over this thread in general and likely not saying anything too nice, lol. He's a Southern Baptist, IIRC. Or maybe Presbyterian? I think you chose alright with Lutheranism (MS) as an ex-Catholic. It's not nearly as explicit, but LCMS does acknowledge both supersessionism (I think you pointed that out before) and something of a real presence in the eucharist as a sacramental union. No intercession of saints is a bummer, though.

it has been foretold

Hey, what's the Venus of Willendorf doing there? lol. Vatican isn't in possession of it IRL, but it does have some wild shit from Emperor Nero's Domus Aurea. Most notably a 25-foot diameter tub that was constructed entirely of imperial porphyry painstakingly taken out of Egypt. It's worth $2 billion.

i remember reading it's a bitch to work and that's why most of the porphyry stuff tends to be small, which makes this huge thing a damn miracle.

but it's a place of miracles

It looks like one of his all-time favorite pastors is about to check out, Johnny Mac doesn't have much time left. He's been the senior pastor at Grace since 1969.

A theological throw down with Pope Leo would've been amusing.

I'm just learning about him now but I like his style.

@Islam Imamate's religion holds Mary in higher esteem than most Protestants, FFS. MacArthur was a disingenuous dispensationalist but undoubtedly well read. There's no world where the dearly departed Johnny Mac doesn't get his ass whooped by Pope Leo, but it's probably fair to say the average Prot has a better grasp of scripture than the average Catholic. In any case, Catholicism will never adhere to sola scriptura, and why would it?

The church predates New Testament scripture by decades and existed for centuries prior to the formal establishment of NT scripture. It was the institution chiefly responsible for circulating, compiling, and canonizing scripture. The bible exists because of the church and is itself a product of sacred tradition. It is a religion that is not going to give up its cherished creeds, sacraments, patristics, or paraliturgical devotions to become a glorified book club.

A petty difference: Protestant usage of the word "Gospel" in singular form meant to describe the totality of the bible from Genesis to Revelation. You know, rather than the literal canonical gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John (based out of its mind, lol). Catholicism explicitly elevates the gospels (plural) to a higher state of reverence as the heart of all scriptures, and it's very apparent in the Order of Mass. On the otherhand, Johnny Mac could treat you to a 90-minute Leviticus diatribe. But why?

"europeans, you can put this in your drinks during winter"

or maybe it's symbolic and the american pope is blessing....ICE ;)
solid omen
