I know that he beat ngannou but that version was green and Most people believe that he gets KTFO if they rematch.

Stipe has one of the weakest resumes ever for a Champion and people claim that he’s a better HW then Fedor.

@NorrisB

i never got why people think Fedor's losses to Werdum and Hendo were embarrassing. Werdum is an absolute animal, and vs Hendo he was on the brink of beating Dan himself.
Yeah and dipshits will turn right around and bring up Stipe's loss to Struve 7 years ago after saying this.

But hey it's Sherdog, you're only as good as your losses from 5+ years ago!

maybe not but he's fought the best guys available.

Another discount thread, fucking mma fans. Jones beat overblown middleweights and old guys, Stipe fought guys out of there prime, Demetrious fought no bodies, Conor fought smaller guys. Jesus Christ people! Can you give a fighter there dues

lmao yup!

MMA fans can be painfully stupid sometimes. Everyone loves to complain about the "trash talk era" and we get a humble champ like Stipe who never ducks anyone and doesn't partake in any drama and he's one of the most hated fighters on Sherdog.

Stipe consecutively fighting Mark Hunt, Arlovski, Overeem JDS, Ngannou, and Cormier x2 when he did is more challenging than anything Fedor ever accomplished as far as competition goes.

I have no clue how folks could dislike Stipe. He comes to bang, he stands with anyone, high level ground game, always puts on a good fight. There’s gonna be fireworks in a Stipe fight. He’s humble, family man and a fucking firefighter while he’s the UFC HW champ. He doesn’t have to be your favorite fighter, but how could you actively dislike him as a fighter?

Fedor never had an embarrassing prime lost like miocic did to Struve
So how was Francis green when he’d been fighting pro for 5 years, but stipe lost to Struve in his “prime”, when stipe had only been fighting pro for 2 years at that point?

He's fought several fighters in their prime, but almost all of his best victories were over past prime fighters.
He still has a MUCH better resume than Fedor if we're being honest though. It's not like he's fighting guys that can't defend an arm-bar or 300lb freaks with no athletic ability. Add to this, he would beat Fedor up.

I feel like Fedor is greater, but Stipe is better. It sorta like comparing Jim Brown to Adrian Peterson. Brown is historically the greater running back in terms of his legacy and impact on the sport, but in no way shape or form was he better than Adrian Peterson.

what a stupid statement

It's true. I still think Fedor is the Goat HW as of now, but once he started consecutively fighting top guys he lost to Werdum. Look at the rankings of the Fighters Fedor fought after he won the Pride HW strap. He fought 9 top 10 and 9 non top ten fighters before he lost the lineal HW belt to Werdum.

Fedor beats Nog and Captures the Pride HW title
Egidijus Valavicius- Not even ranked in the top 250
Kazuyuki Fujita- #35
Gary Goodrich- #12
Yuji Nagata- Not even ranked in the top 250
Mark Coleman- #10
Kevin Randleman - #7
Naoya Ogawa- #65
Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira- #2
Tsuyoshi Kohsaka-#14
Cro Cop- #4
Zuluzinho- #115
Mark Coleman - #3
Mark Hunt #7
Matt Lindland Not ranked at HW, but #7 MW.
Hong-Man Choi- Not ranked even in the top 250
Tim Sylvia- #7
Andre Arlovski- #6
Brett Rogers- #7
Fabrico Werdum- #9 (loss)

After losing lineal HW title and has gone 8-5 since
Bigfoot Silva- #10

At 38 years old?
Fighting prime has nothing to with age. It has to do with performance and results. Probably at 28 years old or so he was in his biological prime but not his fighting prime. Two different animals. Werdum’s performances were arguably the best at or around 38.

I feel you, but this is Sherdog... if a fighter is threatening your boy's legacy, this man has to be eliminated.
Fedor shouldn't have any hater either.
For 10 years he was at the very top of 2 different combat sports (MMA & Sambo, which was notorious for severe drug testing), he was great on the feet and on the ground, never in a boring fight, never talked trash about his opponents, is every fighter's favorite fighter, family man,
He doesn't have to be anybody's favorite fighter, but how can anyone actively dislike him?

Some sherdoggers say that "sherdog was never good, even 15 years ago fighter bashing was rampant" but it's not true. Nowadays, not a single fighter is untouchable.
Back then, if you dared talk shit about Randy Couture, Sakuraba, Bas Rutten, Shogun, Wanderlei, Fedor, Crocop, etc, you were going to get rekt.
Since the rules about fighter bashing got soft, when you were suddenly allowed to call anyone a juicer without proof, you would find newer fans eager to trash some legends...

Well, not at all actually. As your skills deteriorate, you can change up your style to continue success. Mostly only a few top fighters are capable of this. But lets be frank. When the body goes, so does reflexes, speed, stamina, and especially the chin. Give props to the guys that can hang in there past their primes, but they still are not in their primes.

Yeah, Iirc Werdum didn't really start showcasing any kind of legitimate striking skills until he got to the UFC.

Good post and I have to try to restrain myself from fighter bashing and being a dick. I love Fedor but Stipe is my man so I even find myself putting down Fedor, which is fuckin stupid. These dudes are all fuckin badass, wish we could cheer for our favorites without putting others down. Fuck I’m gettin soft.

You said it yourself. Some dudes can change their style to continue or even improve success. My point is age doesn’t determine a prime, winning does.
