A lot of those KOs are amazing in their own right, but I gotta go with when the big underdog KOs and derails the hype train; Holm vs. Rousey

Striker expects wrestler to shoot for a takedown, striker throws a flying knee with the intention of knocking the wrestler out, the knee lands and knocks the wrestler out. How is that a God damn fluke?

It's flukey because 9 times out of 10, it doesn't land. It's not as skill based as the other KO's on this list.

Roy Nelson vs Big Nog.. that was brutal and Nog was out cold for ages, they had a hard time waking him up. They cut the camera away and tried to focus on Fat Roy and other things, but Nog was out badly

Barboza the purest, mas the hypiest

This is the KO of the year in 2018 imo

If it wasn't for Masvidal's knee KO, this could have been a strong contender for 2019.

There have been so many crazy knockouts over the years it's so hard to pick the best ones.

So many forgotten ones. Just came accross this one. Pretty random. But it's such a clean and crazy combo

That uppercut as he's sliding down the fence is brutal.

He literally drilled that same kick many times in his training camp and also told other people he was going to knock Askren out with it. How is that a fluke lmao

Masvidal vs that hair dude but Conor vs Aldo probably made a bigger impact on the sport.

newer MMA fans won't choose Shogun vs. Machida 2, they have no idea how anticipated that fight was, & how important it was for it to go down the way it did.

their first fight was a motherfucking robbery - plain & simple. you had the Pride rollover, so all the Pride fans (aka MMA fans - different from strict UFC fans) were making a LOT of noise in support for Pride MMArtists.

during this, was the peak of "The Machida Era" who brought back TMA roots to MMA, hard not to like the guy. he was fucking up EVERYONE, flawlessly too.

until he met Shogun. their first fight was fucking insane, but it was a robbery, & everyone was giving Dana shit for so fucking long where he'd complain about it in interviews.

then the second fight happens, & after all that frustration, anger, anticipation, hype, Shogun executed his game flawlessly by sneaking in a perfect counter right hook that led him to a fully mounted GnP onslaught & the cherry on top is that Shogun demonstrated honor & personal restraint in getting off before the ref could officially end the fight.

this was a classic battle between Muay Thai vs. Shotokan Karate, Pride vs. UFC.

Hendo's H-Bomb on Bisping deserves a mention too btw.

Holm/Ronda KO:

Massive underdog win
Epic Good vs Evil vibe
Skill based KO
Once-ever united Sherdog message board

10/10 post my man

I picked Anderson ko over vitor for similar reasons.

Fantastic post though my man, should provide some context to some of the new kids on the block

It depends solely on how Askren approaches Masvidal after the bell. If Askren shot to the other side, or in any other way, Masvidal would have missed the KO.

You can make that argument on literally every single one shot ko ever ....

But he didn't. Masvidal correctly predicted Askren's response. That's a relevant fact.

Too many people think something is flukey if they did not predict it or if it is low probability.
