International Politico can't make payroll because DOGE discovered and froze propaganda slush fund. NYT next.....

It's government influence over the news media. It's no wonder they echo what the Deep State types would want them to say.

I get a daily NuclearNews email and many many others regarding the DOE and other Energy Industry topics all loaded with articles and blogs. It's all free. Now, if a person is a Fed, there have a phone and email directory where they can reach out to their peers for data, analytics, metrics, status for virtually all sites and projects. It's pretty common. I can make those calls too as many are associates and friends. The don't need the LA Times to tell them anything regarding their work. Google can get them what they need or OpenAI.

Yeah but can they see who was best dressed at the correspondents dinner?

this is big boy news here.

I changed my mind again. The government swifties need their Taylor news.
Not sure why you're linking free content that's available without an enterprise subscription. I guess the government should stop buying WSJ subscriptions because cartoons and movie reviews are part of the publication.

If you mean this, their publication isn't free and they offer enterprise subscriptions. You're probably getting it because you're a society member.

Sure you or any employee can. But that takes time. Why have a bunch of employees waste their mornings aimlessly calling people or checking on what's happening in all 50 states when you can pay someone to do it for you and your employees can do more productive work.

What influence? It's literally subscription costs, and most of E&E's revenue isn't even from the government, it's from the private sector.

You're telling me I could get even MORE Taylor swift news if I paid for it?

BRB subscribing to politico now

Or you know...the content I linked and you ignored. Or dashboards and other data that you can't get for free. Again, because you ignored it since you clearly have never worked in a large corporate environement.

They're working 120 hours a week to find a million dollars a year of wasted tax money? The fuck are they doing in there? Slash off some of that military budget instead or make Elon give up some of his contracts.

Weren’t the credits for any EV though? I don’t understand how this is remotely similar.

Tesla makes EVs. The Democratic Administrations wanted people to switch to EVs. Musk bad?
Yes incentivizing car companies to sell more EVs and going green is a net positive. However Musk is receiving billions of tax payer dollars to sell his cars. Not only that but everything he was entitled to expired in 2019. However Musk loves tax payer money so he lobbied to have Biden re-up the rebates for Tesla.

It is highly hypocritical (to complain about reckless government spending and misrepresenting a few millions here and there while receiving billions upon billions to sell his cars and for which he was paid out billions in incentives) and it is also crushing competition because Tesla's ability to produce cheaper cars no longer necessitates a rebate but he's still begging for it(tax payers are essentially subsidizing his companies and helping Musk earn billions).

If Musk wants to rail about reckless government spending, he should at least get off the federal government teat.

Calling Musk good or bad is too simplistic(he's not nearly the genius he was made out to be but he's also not an idiot). I was pointing out his dbaggery for over a decade as my liberal friends bought his cars and figuratively blew him every chance they had.

Anyone want to wager on the....
"This didn't happen"
"It didn't happen enough to matter"
"It happened, but that's a good thing"
...argument being used?
Well it's pretty well confirmed that the government paid for a bunch of enterprise subscriptions for specialized news, just like most companies do. Not sure what part you're disputing.

The government is not a company though. Quick question why do companies pay for specialized news?

To save their employees time and improve productivity. Same reason a government agency would buy them. I can't believe this concept is so alien to you.

He’s not though.

How do you figure?

Every Tesla sold gets up to 7.5k rebate from federal government. That money is coming from American taxes. I get that Musk is not the only one getting the rebate but it's also hypocritical to have the government subsidize his cars while claiming that government is wasting billions. Also his stock bonuses were and are directly tied into how many cars he sells so if not for those rebates, Tesla would have sold significantly fewer 3s as an example and he may have missed his milestones that guaranteed him tens of billions in bonuses.

Initially the government set a number at 100k(I don't remember the exact). Tesla exceeded that number by 2019 for most of its cars. Yet in 2023 Tesla was allowed to receive that rebate again. I hope we're not all naive enough to think that happened by osmosis. Musk lobbied the Biden administration and I am sure others to help him out.

It’s disingenuous framing based on a dislike of Musk.

There is an EV rebate that all car manufacturers can produce eligible vehicles. Tesla was the most successful company in the EV space by far — so yes, Tesla customers received the rebate at higher rates.

The EV rebate to most people is a worthwhile effort, as even you said.

It’s not the government subsidizing Musk with billions.

It’s lazy and disingenuous to frame it that way. It’s the old “oh you think government is corrupt? I don’t see you leaving” argument.

There are worthwhile programs and wasteful ones.

Personally, I don’t think EVs should be subject to credits or rebates at all.
