Politically Correct Homework Assignment in Texas Enrages Parents

What age/grade was this?

As far as deciding what age is too early to inoculate kids to capitalism, I don't know that there is early enough an age.

I think your skepticism is well-warranted, but I would need some additional evidence first.
The OP image & story is from an eighth grade class. This is being taught to fourth graders in a different Texas school as well. Here's the image from the fourth grade assignment for comparison (my screenshot from a local news story vid that is in the linked article in OP):

Seems like some investigative journalism is called for...

I don't read it as a "Pro/Con" list. The wording suggests otherwise, clearly. And yes, this should be politicized. Making choices over values in education, particularly with the looseness of charter schools, is an immediate concern.

So you’d rather indoctrinate children than let them come to a conclusion themselves.

You need to learn that you can’t control others. You’re someone who gets offended a lot. So your thought process makes sense.

Meh, at least "good" is properly set off in quotations

We should indoctrinate our children on the inherent and total evil of slavery, absolutely.

What indoctrination can you point to in the OP.

What you’re saying doesn’t even make sense

I'm cheekily (but honestly) portraying the downplaying of slavery as right-wing political correctness, particularly in the South.

Ohhhh Lol okay. I do agree it seems like a strange thing idea “to name positives of slavery”

But I’m sure many texas residents have their ideas

I'm happy to serve up my opinion about the utter failure of this teacher to communicate the lesson in a way that would have the desired impact. But I'm still open-minded to the possibility that this was more than just an unfortunate miscalculation (Texas).

Absolute crazy talk.

At least the "good" is in inverted commas, but I wonder what exactly they were looking for from fourth graders.

If they want to teach the concept of slavery and explain why it existed, there are a hundred ways to do that without something this stupid.

The easiest way is having the classes you teach watch "Roots".

John Amos is a boss.

Well I've made my suspicions clear. Would love for Texas to prove me wrong here.

You’re a hypocrite and a fool.

I wonder if someone in a position of power over you had exercised that same thought process over any number of topics when you were a child; would you feel the same way. Well, you’d never know anyway.

Religion for example.

Personally, I feel you’re quite young. You sound emotional.

You get to spend a lot of time outdoors.

If I was heavily indoctrinated in a certain belief as a child, then I would probably carry that belief with me until I began to question my core beliefs- which for me happened in my mid-20s after life had knocked me around a little. Funny enough, I never did have that intellectual crisis concerning the ownership of human beings. Poor me. The brainwashing was too strong. I never felt it necessary to examine whether I believed it could be justifiable to own people. What a blossoming I missed out on!

Have I lampooned you enough, or do you want more?

It is unequivocally wrong to own other human beings, and this is something we should teach our children early and often. Handwashing, looking both ways before crossing the street, and not owning human beings.

You're Australian, yeah?

You guys called quotation marks "inverted commas"?

That's cheeky. Also, dumb.

It's English. No surprise Americans don't recognise it.
