Political Betting Thread

To date my 2016 sports betting results have exceeded my expectations. My overall profits from the bookies is sky high and let's just say subscribers from my professional capping service is booming. I make it crystal clear I don't bet to gamble because that's a losing proposition. Exceptions do occur...

With that being said.. .
I have some excess funds to dabble with and I'm going to use this extra money to bet on the election just for funsies. Now I've already stated I made a ⬜ bet "not Donald Trump to become President" @ -7xx odds. It's a terrible bet, but I don't cap Politics so give the kid a break will ya.

If you know my history I'm the very few "go big or go home" betting types. It's not uncommon to see massive wagers place by yours truly. We're talking mid 4 figures and yes I have the bankroll to back it up! Ok, on the advice from a very close associate of mine I decided to place what I call a "whopper" bet in homage to my favorite hamburger from Burger King.

This friend of mine is a political genius in every sense of the word. He assures me save for an extremely happenstance variable like Hillary going to prison, dropping out of the race due to health complications etc. etc.. my bet has a high 90% of cashing. In short, Trump doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hades coming out victorious as the next POTUS.

I know there'll be critics coming out of the woodwork calling into question the validity of my bets. That's why I've always been transparent and I make it a point to post my slips. So without further adieu:



I do suggest you tail this pick. It's a future which means your money will be tied up for awhile, but at the end of the day easy money is money.

This was also my initial interpretation but it seems the 1st debate (and the post-debate media coverage) hurt Trump a lot. I think he's back on the upswing now with the successful VP debate, but the media attacks are unrelenting.

Truthfully, I thought he was garbage in all but 1 of the Republican debates (only winning that one because Cruz handed him a missile). Nothing in that last typically bad performance stands out, except that Clinton's on the other side but the media ran hard with it this time.

Hopefully the thread bet Clinton when she was around -160 because you're likely not going to see that line again. I wouldn't bother trying to arbitrage further because this one seems over (it's always possible something crazy happens, but Clinton should simply be able to play defense now, and Trump appears incapable of helping himself).

I think there's a good chance we see more variation in the markets as more leaks come out. From what I understand the week before the election is when leaks do the optimum damage. It's enough time for the leaks play out in the media, but not long enough for goldfish brained voters to forget, so I'd expect the worst leaks to come out around then. The media will probably downplay or ignore damaging Hillary leaks as much as possible, unless it's either highly incriminating or TMZ level stuff that they can't ignore. James O'Keefe and Assange claim to have the goods.

It's going to take something huge to turn this around for Trump.
 
Breitbarters, Hannity and other pro-Trump players will go ballistic over whatever gets released but it's difficult for me to believe that Hillary's paper trail is actually going to be relevant to this race anymore.

Trump settled out of court with his wife when she sued him for rape and it was never recognized as pertinent to this race. Other documented accusations have rolled off him. Some crass comments come out on video and it destroys him.

That leaked transcript (and others) may hurt her badly in the next election actually, but this one is taking place on Trump's turf and without video of Hillary shouting racial epithets/demeaning the sympathetic, it doesn't matter. It's too bad Wikileaks didn't drop this for Sanders. Any other Republican candidate also would've been having a field day right now.

I am wondering if the open borders thing will help to rally the Trump forces. A vision of a western hemisphere with totally open borders? That's very radical and I suspect most voters do not support it.
 
Consensus seems to be that Trump won the debate. I think Trump still has a good chance of winning this thing, I'll say 35%.

Trump didn't bring up the "open borders" e-mail yet. I am interested in seeing if he does so in the 3rd debate.

I expect Trump's numbers to drop a lot in the coming days due to the bad press of the last week, but I think the actual race will be closer than these new polls indicate.
