Poirier can KO Topuria while against the cage

Porier has the best counters against the cage. Here's him patiently waiting and slumping BSD & Chandler as they have him against the cage. Chances Ilia gets slept as he launches his machine gun combo?

Doubt it

There's levels to boxing

Poirier is a good boxer for mma, but Ilia is a level above him on multiple fronts.

I think Tipuria will knockout Dustin Poirier with a perfectly timed explosive punch right when Poirier is adjusting his shorts.

Islam and Islam's manager said publicly that they are not interested in giving Topuria a LW title shot because he didn't fight contenders like Movsar Evloev in his own weightclass.

But if he wins against Olivera or Dustin, Islam will be willing to give him a chance for double champ status.

That's all.
It's not really up to them, Islam is fighting Ilia next.

I don't think they make this fight. They gonna go for Islam v Topuria. They just got a slip him the fragrant grease. His manager is there to get it for him.

terrible fight for dustins swansong, he doesnt deserve to go out like that

Ilia does get hit more than people notice, holloway was landing big right hands on him in round 2 and volkanovski also landed a big southpaw left hand but neither of those guys had enough power to get his respect. Ilia would have to fight more conservatively against dustin

This. Ilia is fantastic. But people are (over)jerking him off on here like he's an untouchable immortal. . . . but I've seen him get tagged and even dropped in most of his fights (lol not against Hall though!). I think he has a good chance to beat a lot of the about-to-retire/should-have-already-retired guys in the new division, but don't see him doing that well against the champ.

I can see this happening too. Unfortunately it will leave us in the same stalemate at LW with very little contenders/prospects.
Dont care, Topuria doesnt have much for Islam M. anyway, the entire top 15 LW´s are at the very least rangier than him, only Tsarukyan is the same height, but he is clearly thicker with longer range, there is a reason Topuria didnt stick at LW when he beat Herbert.

I said it (first?) before, Poirier vs Topuria is a banger of a fight, does Poirier ruins a fresh contender if he wins and retires? sure, but it will be worth to watch, Oliveira would be a good one too, i dont think Topuria does great at LW, but Poirier loves to stand and bang and that plays right along with Topuria´s game, book it.

The good old "he was winning until he lost" is a running joke in sherdog, but the exact opposite applies to him, Herbert? losing until he won, Holloway? same (imo), he also took some damage against Volkanovski too, slow starter maybe, but he cant do that against LW´s with 1 punch KO power.

I think it would be a very good fight, Poirier has really good hands and he is powerful with so much experience, would be a big test for Topuria at LW. I just wish Dustin would stop the pulling his shorts up all the time, it costs him so much, guys are so wise to it now and wait for it and then throw at him, Islam was always throwing after Dustin was pulling up his trunks, which is a shame because without that Dustin was landing flush on Islam and doing well. Its a massive flaw and I am being serious, not in a joking way, its really becoming a huge flaw to have your hands down to pull them up, he has been hit flush because of it a lot.
