Media Poirier and Conor last five opponents

Imagine performing like that against Diaz at 170 at then getting a instant shot at 150. Only to lose right away
Then a redemption fight against the washed out Cowboy at 170 again, lol. Of course that gets him an instant title shot, though Conor was begging for Diego Sanchez, lol.

Absolutely the toughest last 5 but the 90 second loss to Conor a few fights back complicates that picture.
Dustin's record since Conor is 13 fights ago, 10-2-1 since then
Conor is 6-2 since then. Dustin's been in a lot of wars, as much as I want him to win, I don't know if he can handle another striker at Conor's level.

jokes aside Conor did fight and win a round against Khabib right after a boxing match that made him rich. On the contrary, khabib retired essentially right after his first real pay Cheque, just when he started actually fighting top 5 fighters too. Hope his mom enjoys those foot rubs though

If Conor doesn't cheated for multiple times in the fight, that hurr durr ~dominating~ third round will never happened imo. I think Connie is lucky that Herb Dean let him cheat as much as he wanted to.

Big props to Dominick Cruz and Herb Dean for their unbiased treatment of the fight~

Conor didn’t dominate the round he won by any means but he also fought pretty poorly, at least on the feet. All he needs is a shot or two to land Clean and he proved he can hang in there even not at his best, hence why Khabib didn’t want to rematch his biggest foe, his biggest payday and his hardest fight (according to his own coach).

Cant wait for the fight. I do feel Poirier wins. But Conor winning wouldnt shock me. But I do think it will have to via KO.

It is a compelling fight and I love both fighters. I would have to think Conor‘s Cardio at LW > Dustin’s chin after all of the wars but I am only guessing .

Damn Poirier resume is fucking strong. A win over Conor which i doubt but that will put him up there with one of the best LW ever.

That's a murderer's row of opponents if I've ever seen one. Hope he caps it off with a win vs Conor.

The thing about Khabib is that he goes in the octagon with a very good gameplan.

He fought both Barboza, Conor and Gaethje were all by implementing different gameplans.

In Gaethje fight he utilized a Cain Velasquez-style of walking the opponent down, with such pressure that I think is twice than what Colby usually lean forward toward his opponents. Gaethje gassed by the end of the 1st round.

In Barboza fight, Khabib kept on closing the distance to ensure that Barboza will not has enough space to set up the kicking attacks. It happened perfectly in my opinion.

In Conor fight, Khabib initiate a quick grappling when Conor is still fresh in the first round. Khabib completely controlled where the fight is going to take place to the point that Conor couldn't utilize his best weapon: his left.
In the second round Conor 100% was expecting to be taken down but you saw that Khabib threw a nice right overhook while baiting a takedown.
After the mauling in the second round I think Conor is probably gassed and weak enough to be play with. He even slapped Conor in the third.

What Khabib has beside his grappling is his reflex/reaction time and his fight IQ, utilizing the gameplan perfectly by penetrating his opponent major weaknesses.

Conor can win against Khabib but he need to has a superior grappling/wrestling than Khabib which imo you need juiced individual with a lifetime experience of wrestling and/or sambo accolades.

Regardless of any fighter, both Khabib, Javier Mendez and Abdulmanap (when he was still alive) will watch their fights and study them because they are the fans of the game.

I think Khabib biggest interest is to fight a superior opponent. Poirier, Gaethje and Conor despite being top 5 of the division were too one-dimensional for the game.

Money is money but sometime you just wanted to climb to the top.

That's what happens when some guys are forced to consistently fight their way through the rankings. Only superstars like Conor tend to get easy roads and shortcuts. Most guys in most top 5s have great resumes, otherwise they wouldn't be there. Such rules don't apply to everyone though, at Dana's discretion of course.

I think I would have Dustin just outside the top 10 LWs of all time(above Conor) but with one more win he would be in the 8-10 range and I think he ends his career somewhere in the top 7 all time at LW(maybe top 5 depending on how many more wins he gets before he retires).
I disagree

For me, Poirier is EASILY no.2 greatest lightweight of all time, only behind Khabib

In fact, it it wasn't for his win over Poirier, Khabib's case wouldn't yet be solidified

Khabib-Poirier fight was what people pretended Khabib-Tony is for

2 is way too high. How long have you been following MMA?

Poirier will be ready for Conor's counter striking. Poirier won't go chin up lung at Mcgregor this time. Conor leans back strikes the lunger. Poirier has excellent combos now, a low kick , head kick and a combo. Will be a completely different fight than last time.

Didn't Dusting get KO while defending in block???
