Poatan is not big enough for 205.

I agree I just think there is a Goldilocks argument for guys who are too big for some weightclasses and too small for others

Probably true, Alex would I'd guess preffer to fight at 195lbs if such a weightclass existed.

I don't think he's a "small" LHW though, he's not the biggest but there are guys his size who have had sucess in recent years.

His grappling is definitely gonna be tested in the Jan fight much more than it ever has been before. Gotta respect him for taking a fight like this right off the bat rather than something more stylistically suitable.

How fucking wild would Poatan vs guys like Jiri and Walker be though..
He passed the grappling test

He passed the grappling test
Hmmm...I see what you re saying but Jan won that round on the ground easily and then gassed because he was 40 and at altitude more than anything. Alex can't count on younger grapplers in the division to do that.

The altitude affects most regardless of age. Poatan was equally affected.

Besides Ankalaev and Jan, there are no superb offensive grapplers at LHW.

Jan was a dangerous match up because he also has phenomenal striking defense and an iron chin. There’s no one in the current LHW division as well rounded as Jan.

Always skinny legs this or skinny legs that, how many MMA "Fans" think Fighting and weightlifting are one and the same SMH.

Although ironically I think Alex's grappling defence is probably better than Jan's.

To be fair, thats the state of the division because UFC got rid of the best grapplers at LHW

He is 6'4 fighting at middleweight and LHW how you gonna say he's not big enough, dude could easily fight at heavyweight.
