I've complained about their camera work this season, before. Angles / cuts / whatever should be used to enhance the sense of movement, not detract from it. There should never be a cut during a dive that doesn't make it look higher / farther. They've done some bizarre cuts that literally cut out parts of moves to the point you don't know how someone got laid out or whatever.

I get they want it to look more like an action movie, but they could focus the cuts on the backstage segment fights / and during matches when they brawl on the outside.

Oh, and about Matanza: did anyone catch kinda near the beginning when he was fumbling with his mask, and you could see it was partly coming undone, and then later it was back on ?

And also it's pretty clear they nerfed his power level from last week - when we didn't see anything wrong with his mask.

I'm really hoping that was intentional and not just, you know, a random thing. As in, that his power is tied with his mask - either literally, or just that the distraction / focus on it is what kept him from just running through Pentagon (one guy) as opposed to when he ran through like a dozen guys last week.

Probably. I know I am really really hoping there is a storyline reason introduced for how he goes from wrecking half the roster at once to when he eventually is defeated. So I'm probably grasping at straws trying to find that already.

I mean, you're not wrong w/ the shakey zoom camera and crap, but sometimes its hard to get into a flow of a match with the cuts. And I swear at one point in Matanza/PJ there was like three cuts <5 seconds. Usually their production is very good though.

I was just looking for an excuse to shit on shaky cam because I hate it so much.. but I do agree, the quick cuts can be bothersome when you're focussed on what's going on and they cut multiple times for seemingly no reason.

Possibly my only complaint about LU..


I did notice the mask fuck up.. looked like the top strap came undone and he was trying to fix it while Pentagon was punching him in the face. I'll be honest, I forgot about it and didn't notice it got fixed.

I feel like Pentagon Jr is gonna be going through his own journey-of-the-hero act from here till Ultima Lucha 2. But goddamn, they could have done that by having him fued with Mil Muertes first instead of putting him in an ambulance. I am intrigued about Johnny Mundo vs Cage though. There need to be a steel cage or a last man standing match between both of them. Still though, Fenix and Prince Puma looked to be going to some other direction rather than continually chasing the championship title, which is ok i guess but they are so integral to the universe that it felt a bit empty when they aren't on the screen.

I had to go through something I went through with, like, Shakira and Angelina Jolie in years past ... having to accept that Mariposa / Marty's sister (aka Cheerleader Melissa, aka Alissa Flash, aka Raisha Saeed) has gone from being a hot young minx to being a milf type.

Oh well. Endless crop of both in the world lol

Good ep, liked the drama bits, really felt more thought was put into them this week. Helps makes this feel like a fleshed-out fictional universe.

Wish I'd kept notes throughout, I know I'm forgetting more things I wanted to talk about. But one thing as a whole that felt so much better this week also, the camera work. Fewer cuts just in and of itself is not what I was asking for, but they definitely seemed to realize they were detracting from the in-ring action the way they had been using them this season. Hopefully they can get to a good middleground of when/where to use the cuts for maximum effect.

I finally was able to catch up on the last 3 episodes. Aztec warfare was pretty. I loved the Mack doing his SCSA impersonation on Matanzas. I thought after the ending they would be setting up a Rey/Matanzas feud but I guess they're going another route.

Hopefully Pentagon is only offscreen for a few episodes, to me he is their best star. I have even got my 4 year old chanting "Cero Miedo". Rey's all black mask made him look a bit like batman but I'm interested to see that trios team. I'm digging Famous B, are they transitioning him into a manager?

I had no idea Cheerleader Melissa was moth girl but good for her she's been in the business for awhile. I totally dig her mask n outfit. Give me more Sleazy Joey Ryan and Mack and I'm happy camper. Hopefully Mil/Matanzas is a one off, I don't really want to see a feud.

I'm having a hard fucking time getting decent quality versions of the latest episode. I had to watch a shitty 480p version. Streams have been unwatchable. I'm willing to pay for the show but it's not easy to find in Canada. I hope they put it on Netflix. I'd really like to buy a blu ray of season 1..

Since I'm basically not supporting the show in any way, unfortunately, I ordered a killer LU shirt as a minor apology. I wish they sold wrestler shirts and masks on their site.
