It's almost done installing on Xbone for me. I'm going to dive in tomorrow. I'm hoping I like it more than Fortnite since it's $30 and Fortnite is free.
Me too. I’ve had PUBG on my pc for a couple months now but like it so much I don’t mind supporting the devs, plus playing with a mouse and keyboard is something I can’t get used to again. And I really dig Fortnite as well so I’m curious to see which I like better on the console.

New update and map is THE TITS. Feels like a different game. Everything looks so crisp and detailed. i love the vastness of it. The new vehicle mechanics feels much more like a simulator compared to the previous patch. I also got a big performance boost too. And hopefully the dysnc/rubber banding will be fixed soon. I like the previous map but this one suits my game style a lot more coming from playing Arma and it almost feels like i'm playing wasteland. Hopefully the maps won't be selected at random and you can choose which one to play on.

Downloaded it on Xbox.

Any tips for a PUBG noob that plays solo/duo?

Don't focus too much on killing everyone else. Let some of the others do the dirty work here and there.

Map is gonna take alot of getting use to. On the old map I was winning every 4 to 5 rounds I played and now i'm lucky to get top 5 every 10th round.

AKM was my go to gun but they nerf'd the shit out of it with the latest patch (basically my go to gun for over 200 hours of playtime is essentially worthless now).

Old map forced more medium to short range conflicts (smaller towns, rivers, bridges) which is where i focused my time/skills on.

New map favors long range which you didn't need much of on the old map (last couple of circles charging trees/rocks for cover or prone crawling in vegetation negated most users that had long range weapons).
You might be misreading the new map. The difference is the kind of cover- instead of looking for trees, etc, look for folds in the terrain. It's a lot more rugged and bumpy, so there are a lot more places you can hide. As long as you're not in a valley, anyways. Stay away from those if there aren't buildings or trees.

I haven't been forced into many long range engagements on this map compared to erangel

If you're trying to win, let other people do your killing. Being in the top ten and shooting someone visible means giving away your hiding place, so now everyone else knows where you are. Let someone else do the dirty work; now you have their location and your hiding spot is still safe.

Dropping into contested areas to improve gunskills isn't a bad idea, though, just make sure you're not dropping on top of someone, because the race to get a shotgun isn't as important a skill.

Beyond that, keep your ears peeled, be sneaky, and plan ahead. Almost all circle-related (blue damage or getting killed running by noisely + desperately from the circle) deaths can be avoided by planning and not overlooting.
Vehicles are godlike early and can be a liability later.

logging in for my first game on xbox 1. im gonna just go hide in a bathtub and learn the controls lol

The best my friend and I have done so far is finishing 11th. We camped out in a hospital and waited for the ring to shrink and force enemies to our location. It was boring, but playing the waiting game while listening for footsteps was still intense. Sprinting across an open field or watching enemies close in around you really gets the heart pumping. I can see why its such a well-received game.

The games we've played have varied as well. Some games, enemies parachute into the same location as us and we all scramble to find weapons. In another game, we had an epic shootout at a loot crate against 4 other players resulting in our deaths, but we still killed 3 of them. And we found out that getting even a foot of air on a motorcycle isn't the best way to stay alive.

Question: Do specific weapons/armor spawn in the same locations or is it random?

Spawn points are mostly the same.

Specific items are not.

Loot quality is weighted to certain areas though. Hospital is solid, military base is great, etc.

A strong suggestion for new players is: loot away from the flight path. You can extend this by looking ahead/up during freefall, rocking the chute (quick rocks to keep speed around 30-35), and opening the chute early.

You can also loot more by diving to a visible vehicle and using that to get to a good location. A motorcycle can easily outpace someone diving through the air.

Lol, how can people even play this on consoles. Dips to almost 10 fps.

I actually like how Fortnite looks kind of cartoonish. I'm not sure how well I'll adjust to the way PUBG looks, but I'm glad there's a significant difference between the two.

I wonder if anyones posted vods from the massive streamer charity tournament

I dig Moses, but holy shit he ragequit sooooooooooo hard in the final game, it was so fucking funny.

Him and Chocotaco landed with Shroud/Chadd all 3 games in a row and every single fucking time the two were first dead

when he got downed and read that it was Chadd he was like, "oh fuck this game. streams over" and then ETL'd and ended his stream....so fucking funny

Holy fuck are the lobby and plane jump bad on xbone. I’m sure they’ll polish things up and for those who don’t have a decent pc this will do, but this is a very rough start. Once you hit the ground it’s not half bad though. Not PC quality but like I said I’m sure in a few months this will be much better. If you’re stuck on consoles I’d recommend Fortnite for a while.

But fuck the “pc is better hurrdurr” shit. If it gets console users and “peasant casuls” to buy it, all the better for the genre. This is a great idea for a game and I see a great future for it.

PC people are hilarious.

Chill, this isn't an us versus them thing. I own an Xbox One S for and have a decent gaming PC I'm just pointing out how terrible the game runs on console which isn't surprising because it doesn't even run well on PCs worth thousands of dollars.

I think it's pretty shitty of the game devs and Microsoft to publish something that hits 12 fps because that's pretty embarrassing and a lie based on them talking about locked 30 fps and seeing it run at 60.
