That's a dumb way to think about it. Most thieves carry some form of protection incase things go sideways, and you never know who is going to have a fight, or flight response when confronted. For all you know those thieves could have had a knife or a gun and just chose to flee.

Here's an example of a similar case but where the homeowner is absolutely in the wrong no question about it and should be charged to the fullest degree.

It's not a similar case at all. The psycho shot at a man far away from him. He needs to spend time in jail.

Huge difference between this and a moron trying to kick in your door.
