I randomly thought of Paul "Relentless" Taylor and he used PKA kickboxing which was fancy kicks and sick boxing combos. Curios to know that style of kickboxing is still around?

Are there any current UFC fighters using this particular style of kickboxing?

This style is marked by long pants and this is Paul in action:

That style doesn't exist too much more even in kickboxing. Especially after low kicks were legalized in 90s K-1

I think Taio Asahisa might be your guy though for a kickboxer.

Japan has a really strong Kyokushin based kickboxing. They really figured and did amazing things. Victor Koga learned sambo and then he helped start Shootfighting.

You mean there are actually people here who watched Benny "the jet," "Superfoot" Wallace, Ross Scott, and Joe Lewis fight?

They used to show a lot of that on regular TV in the 70s, and they were great fights. It hadn't gone to PPV yet at that time.
I remember the PKA, ISKA, WKA in the 80s. I suppose you could say it was the precursor to what eventually became K1. Good times.

Believe it or not, I watched Larry Holmes win the title from Ken Norton, Ali lose and win back the title against Leon Spinks (and fight a bunch of other people later in his career), and Sugar Ray Leonard win his first title against Benitez ALL ON REGULAR TV.

The PPV models sucks. Back in the day you could see the top boxing and kickboxing on TV for free.

I can't think of anyone in the UFC that really uses this kind of kickboxing right now. There are definitely some moves guys did in that sport that would work in MMA.

Low kicks really did throw a wrenched in thr "leave my leg wide open at all times" style.
it's almost more of a Savate style, but with much better boxing combinations (savate fighters have god awful hands 95% of the time).
I think youre right, PKA is one of those styles that just fell out with adaptations to the rules.

In Canada, we had two dragon kickboxing organization. It was based on "Gung Fu" started by two brothers.

It was extremely popular but very short lived and pretty much forgotten. This is the only thing I could find on YouTube:
